General Description
Under general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position is required to carry out tasks with a minimum of direction. The person must demonstrate a high level of self motivation and ability to complete jobs. The position is responsible for installation, maintenance, design, and operations of electrical/electronic and instrumentation/automation systems.
This individual will have background experience with electrical equipment and knowledge of electrical systems, functions, and components. This position will require knowledge of hand tool use, electrical systems and components, control and automation systems as well as predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance. Diagnostic skills should include the use of testing equipment, interpretation of prints, as well as knowledge of electrical devices used in wastewater treatment and lift station facilities.
Requirements:
•Install, repair and maintain electrical equipment that provides light, heat, communications, automation, control and power.
•Capable of conducting duties in a safe, efficient manner that would ensure safety to themselves, co-workers, and the public. Works in compliance of all USW Utility Group safety requirements.
•Candidate must have a thorough knowledge, understanding, and ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring and control schematics, and ladder logic drawings.
•Candidate possesses the ability to properly utilize precision tools and instruments. Examples: electrical test equipment, thermo graphic analysis equipment, and vibration equipment.
•Ability to properly utilize tools required by the job.
•Knowledge of and access to electrical commercial and industrial codes as defined by NEC, OSHA, NFPA, the State of Iowa, and the City of Fort Dodge is required.
•Understands and can operate computer software, including RSLogix and RS Links ladder logic electrical control diagnostic software. Has an understanding of computer hardware, SCADA, telecommunication and wiring instruments.
•Coordinates and communicates with in-plant personnel as well as other outside entities to ensure environmental compliance.
•Performs duties in a manner that is conducive to equipment longevity and the protection of the client's capital investment.
•Will participate in USW UTILITY GROUP's d/b/a U.S. Water Services Corporation's Preventative Maintenance (PM) Program.
•Actively participates in training programs.
•Understands and can accurately troubleshoot motor control.
•Responsible for all electrical, including but not limited to, lighting, outlets, switches, wiring motors, motor control, instrumentation, automation, and power tools.
•Provide general direction and oversight of electrical and control plans during planning and development of new or renovated plant and lift station projects.
•Periodic on-call coverage.
•Will be required to carry a radio
•Provides back-up to related positions
•Obtain Iowa DNR "Grade 1" license for the operation of wastewater treatment facility.
•Performs other duties as assigned or required
Qualifications:
•Demonstrates knowledge, ability, and understanding of all electrical and instrumentation tasks at a wastewater facility and lift stations.
•Education of high school diploma or equivalent and two years experience or specific education in related field.
•Experience working with 480 volt electrical systems.
•Ability to safely and accurately troubleshoot PLC and relay logic control systems.
•Capable of written and verbal communication to all necessary entities.
•Ability to perform moderate manual labor that would include climbing, lifting 75 lbs., kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time.
•Must possess a valid operator driver's license.
•Must be self-directed and highly motivated to complete projects.
•Available to work occasional weekends and/or extended hours.
