To work with classroom teachers to effectively plan, coordinate and carry out child development activities. Work with teacher to instruct children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth needed for elementary school by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work with teachers in team teaching, team planning, and daily routines.
- Provide small group and circle time instruction to assigned children.
- Understand, support and be able to assist in implementing and communicating the Project Construct Curriculum with the children and their parents.
- Assist in preparing of crafts, art, sensory materials and snacks for children.
- Work cooperatively with parents and other classroom volunteers.
- Accompany teacher on home visits and assist in establishing support with families.
- Participate on program planning committees, and parent involvement activities.
- Attend orientation and in-service training sessions and serve as group leader when needed.
- Plan individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment.
- Instruct children in practice of personal cleanliness and self-care.
- Alternate periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest and light activity to avoid over-stimulation and fatigue of students.
- Help children develop habits of caring for own clothing and picking up and putting away toys and books
Perform any Administrative Case Management duties, which serve to inform students and their families how to effectively access, use and maintain participation in all health resources under the Federal Medicaid program.
- 60 college hours with a grade point average of at least 2.5
- Missouri state substitute teacher certification
- Knowledge of the Project Construction Curriculum
- Skills in working with children and their parents
Desire to work with elementary grade children
- Three (3) years successful experience working with elementary school children and their parents
- Course work in childhood education
