Industrial Millwright

Northern Waterworks Inc. provides premium water/wastewater operations to Municipal, First Nation, and corporate clients. We are a high growth company expanding rapidly throughout Ontario, now with divisions in Northwestern Ontario, Northeastern Ontario, and Southern Ontario.

The Industrial Millwright is responsible to ensure the effective maintenance, repair, and safe operation of mechanical and related systems supporting water treatment and water pollution control plants, lift stations, and combined sewer overflow tanks.

Location: Thunder Bay or within Northwestern Ontario

Permanent Full Time (40-hour work week): 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday, with rotational weekend and statutory holiday on-call responsibilities (24 hours/day)

Knowledge

- Secondary School Graduation Diploma recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

- Certified Journeyperson Millwright with an Inter-Provincial Ticket (Red Seal).

- Must have proven practical experience in the operation and maintenance of industrial pumps, motors, and controls.

- Proficient in welding, soldering, pipefitting and tool maintenance

- Valid Wastewater Treatment Operator Class 1 Certificate is an asset.

- Must hold and maintain a valid Class G Ontario driver’s license. DZ license is an asset.

- Demonstrates a commitment to pursuing Water and Wastewater Certifications.

- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment. This requires basic working knowledge of electrical and plumbing.

Responsibilities

- Maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including asset inventory as required.

- Diagnose equipment wear and malfunctions and carry out appropriate repairs.

- Perform preventative maintenance according to schedules and manufacturer guidelines.

- Complete building, grounds and support equipment repairs.

- Support implementation and modification of mechanical systems and new technologies.

- Perform emergency repairs and maintain comprehensive maintenance documentation.

- Work in accordance with established safety protocols and procedures.

- Adhere to regulatory and internal procedures and guidelines.

- Calibrate and monitor equipment for accuracy and reliability.

- Provide feedback on system issues and recommend corrective action.

- Participate and contributes to the development and review of contingency and maintenance management plans.

- Performing other duties as required.

- This role will require frequent travel between various water and wastewater plants located in different cities throughout Northern and Northwestern Ontario. The incumbent should be adaptable and prepared to navigate diverse sites, ensuring operational consistency and safety across multiple locations, sometimes in remote or challenging settings.

- First Aid certification is an asset.
