Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Orlando, FL is seeking an Industrial Engineering & Digital Solutions Intern.
SUMMARY
The Industrial Engineering & Digital Solutions Intern will support business process improvement projects by integrating traditional industrial engineering methods such as time studies, data mining, and simulation. The intern will contribute to operational improvement initiatives aimed at increasing factory capacity while learning foundational lean methodologies and engaging with cross-functional teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
•Assist in Kaizen events and follow-up activities aligned with operational performance and business goals.
•Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement efforts by participating in team discussions, collecting data, and learning core methodologies.
•Contribute to capacity increase initiatives by conducting time studies, mining data, and developing simulation models or standard work standards.
•Assist with safety, quality, and delivery improvements through audit support, data collection, and documentation.
•Maintain and update visual factory systems including communication boards, production tracking tools, and digital/physical metric dashboards.
•Support the development and documentation of standard work practices; observe and learn from training sessions.
•Collaborate with team members across departments to understand communication and reporting processes related to improvement initiatives.
•Perform other duties as assigned, with a focus on learning, supporting team goals, and contributing to project tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION
Education & Experience:
Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited university. Preference for Sophomore or Junior-level students.
Language Skills:
•Ability to clearly and effectively communicate ideas, findings, and improvement suggestions, both in writing and verbally.
Mathematical Skills:
•Ability to analyze operational data and apply basic statistics, ratios, and interpret graphs and charts.
Reasoning Ability:
•Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
•Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset.
•Ability to troubleshoot logically and propose practical solutions.
Computer Skills:
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
•Interest or experience in tools such as Simio, Simul8, Power BI, Power Apps, or Power Automate is a strong plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
•Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear.
•Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
•May be exposed to loud work environments.
•Must adhere to required safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
