The Industrial Distributor Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of a distribution branch or facility, ensuring efficient workflow, inventory accuracy, exceptional customer service, and strong sales performance. This role assists the Branch Manager with supervising staff, maintaining vendor relationships, implementing operational procedures, and driving continuous improvement, corresponding with customers and outside sales staff in a fast-paced industrial environment. The candidate must have the ability to multi task, move fast, and be a leader!
Key Responsibilities: Customer Service & Sales Support
- Provide high-level support to customers via phone, email, and counter service.
- Identify opportunities to upsell, cross-sell, and promote new products or services.
- Resolve customer issues and escalations promptly and professionally.
- Prepare quotes, bids, and sales orders as needed.
- Assist with supervising warehouse, inside sales, and counter staff.
- Help with scheduling, training, performance feedback, and coaching.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented culture with a focus on safety and service excellence.
- Support budgeting, expense tracking, and performance reporting.
- Review invoices, purchase orders, and vendor documentation for accuracy.
- Analyze branch metrics (sales, margin, inventory turns) and recommend improvements.
- Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and logistics partners.
- Assist with product sourcing, special orders, and pricing negotiations.- 3+ years of experience in industrial distribution, warehousing, supply chain, or a related field. - 1+ year of supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of industrial products (e.g., MRO, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, bearings, safety supplies, fasteners—adjust as needed).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, inventory software, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and work in warehouse conditions as needed.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Salary: $60,000 – $80,000 annually, depending on experience and location.
