The Industrial Cleaning Technician (Hydroblasting) is responsible for supporting plant operations by performing high-pressure cleaning and heavy-duty sanitation tasks throughout the facility. This position plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment and may operate various types of heavy equipment to assist other departments as needed.
- Comply with all ArcelorMittal Texas HBI safety, environmental, and health regulations and procedures at all times.
- Operate hydroblasting equipment and other industrial cleaning tools to remove contaminants from surfaces, equipment, and work areas.
- Safely store and handle cleaning chemicals, tools, and supplies.
- Inspect and maintain tools and equipment, reporting any issues or needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Accurately document equipment usage, tasks performed, and time worked.
- Perform general housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and organizing workspaces.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in supply rooms and storage areas.
- Communicate effectively with the central maintenance team and other departments to coordinate cleaning and support activities.
- Train to operate a variety of heavy equipment including forklifts, skid steers, manlifts, sweepers, water trucks, and other machinery as needed.
- Follow proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures when servicing or cleaning equipment.
- Shadow team members to learn plant routines and cleaning standards.
- Conduct thorough post-task cleanup of work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment such as cranes, excavators, skid steers, dozers, and manlifts strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and basic mechanical understanding.
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and industrial cleaning procedures, including proper use for various equipment types.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Must be able to walk long distances and stand/work for extended periods in challenging environmental conditions, including high temperatures, humidity, noise, dust, and at heights up to 500 feet.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; must be able to produce accurate reports and follow detailed instructions.
- Reliable transportation to and from the worksite is required.
- Driver’s License required
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid TWIC card.
