Position Title: Independent Living Service (ILS) Instructor
Work Schedule: Part Time - Varied flexible hours
Purpose: This is a hybrid position for a specific client with Autism, who needs part time Independent Living Services (ILS Services). Having experience with clients de-escalating aggressive behaviors or the ability to learn is necessary. CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute Training) would be beneficial and can be provided. ILS takes place in the community and in the home. It focuses on 13 specific areas of functional living and skills training for clients who are seeking independent living and skills training. One of the great features to ILS is that you can really create a flexible/customized schedule, there is even the opportunity to work weekends if interested, but not required. ILS Instructors model appropriate skills and behaviors to clients, staff members and in the community, in order to provide the best possible services for the highest acquisition of skills, and personal growth without supervisory duties.
- High School diploma and 1 year of related experience in working with adults with developmental disabilities
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be able to pass a health screening and TB test.
- Criminal clearance required
- CPI Training and certification preferred (can be provided)
- Ability to utilize computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to type at least 25 WPM
- High organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of the Lanterman Act, Title 17, Title 22 and Community Care Licensing Regulations as pertains to ILS
- Ability to write interesting and dynamic curriculum based on client’s needs and requests
- Ability to effectively teach clients concepts through classes, community integration and role modeling
- Possession of valid Driver’s License and proof of liability insurance for each vehicle you own and operate
- Current First-Aid and CPR certification required and must be kept current through the recertification process every two years.
- Possess the ability to write all documentation within the program using proper English, punctuation, spelling and grammar
- Assist Program Manager to organize and effectively schedule each training session.
- Assist Program Manager in writing semi-annual progress reports.
- Assist Program manager with gathering of information for Individual Service Plans for participants.
- Assist in identifying measurable consumer goals, objectives and strategies for participants ISP’s.
- Maintain regular, clear and appropriate communication with Manager and Director
- Write daily training documentation in relation to participants IPP/ISP goals.
- Assist participant in maintaining a clean and safe home learning environment.
- Assist Program Manager to maintain the client binders ensuring that all documentation is complete, up to date and correct.
- Assist Program Manager by providing new staff with training and shadowing opportunities.
- Immediately notify Program Manager of anything out of the ordinary or any information regarding a potential SIR.
- Assist Manager to ensure correct protocol is being followed
- Assist Program Manager to distribute accurate and timely information to consumer team and circle of support.
- Maintain all company, consumer and employee information confidentiality, at all times.
- Complete all new employee trainings.
- Perform other duties directly related to the supervision of the client(s) designated by the Program Manager or Executive Director.
