I&E Designers are responsible for documentation, detailed instructions, drawing packages and specifications utilizing AutoCAD. Drawings and specifications outline instructions for construction of structures, equipment, parts and devices.
The person for this position must possess a “team” attitude and be a self-starter. Employees must work together to surmount the continual changes brought about by clients, engineers and design. This also means being ready and able to work outside your comfort zone and delve into areas that may not necessarily be your area of expertise. Additional discipline-specific requirements may be added as required.
Accountabilities:
•Check dimensions and assign of materials and assign numbers
•Design scale or full-sized blueprints
•Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using CAD equipment
•Review schematics with customer and answer questions
•Complete detailed drawings and specifications for equipment using CAD
•Work with project team members to design, lay out or detailed components and systems to resolve design or other problems
•Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems
•Confer with customer representatives to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to installation of systems
•Draw freehand sketches of designs in field applications when required
•Place instructions and comments onto drawings
•Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting designs and the procedures/instructions to be followed
•Perform field work as necessary
•Review and check other’s work
•Additional duties as requested by supervisor

Experience/Education Requirements:
•Requires a High School diploma or equivalent
•Minimum of 5 -15 years of drafting and design experience
•Minimum of five (5) years of electrical & instrument design experience
•Experience in the energy industry
•Must be proficient with AutoCAD
•Experience developing One-line diagrams, cable schedules, panel schedules, electrical plans & elevations, installation details, & wiring diagrams from scratch.
Operational Requirements:
•Must be skilled and working with people
•Travel 10-20% of the time
•Must be focused on safety
•Willing to work overtime when needed.
•Sitting at a computer for up to eight (8) hours or longer per day in an office
•Visitation of refineries, chemical plants, drilling platforms, manufacturing plants, gas processing plants, and pipelines during construction and operation phases
•Climbing as needed to access process towers and equipment for both ladders and stairs
•Ability to use supplied air devices in potentially hazardous atmospheres
•Must be able to enter confined spaces occasionally
•Must have legal driving license for at least passenger car and light truck
•Must be able to drive a car or light truck
•Must be able to operate a cellular phone
•Must be able to walk at least ½ mile across broken ground
•Must be able to carry at least 20 pounds for 1/4 mile
•Ability to quickly mobilize out of locations during dangerous gas, liquid, or operational discharges or upsets
•Must be able to read and understand complex documents in English
•Must be able to be clearly understood in person and over the phone in English
•Must be able to create easily understandable, accurate, and correct documents and e-mails
•Must be able to work nine (9) hours per day or longer as needed
•Must be able to work in refineries, chemical plants, gas processing plants, and other potentially hazardous processing plants
•Must be able to utilize hotels, restaurants, public transportation (airlines, buses, rail, subways, etc.) and navigate unfamiliar roads and cities
