About your role:
The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineering Supervisor oversees a team of I&C Engineers, managing all aspects of their development, from hiring and training to performance evaluations and quality control. This hands-on role ensures resource allocation aligns with project demands, while maintaining technical oversight of engineering deliverables. The I&C Supervisor also collaborates with other departments on business development, project proposals, and recruitment, contributing to the continuous improvement of department standards and practices. The role emphasizes leadership, resource management, and fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities
Resource Management and Project Coordination
•Analyze resource needs, allocate manpower, and organize resources effectively to meet project demands.
•Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure resource allocation aligns with project schedules and technical requirements.
•Review project budgets, schedules, and facilitate team and department meetings to monitor progress and align goals.
Team Leadership and Employee Development
•Foster creativity, innovation, and motivation among the I&C Engineering team to encourage excellence.
•Conduct timely performance reviews, develop employee growth plans, and sponsor training opportunities.
•Provide coaching, mentoring, and delegate responsibilities to develop team members through regular one-on-one meetings.
Personnel Management and Performance Improvement
•Address and document personnel or performance issues promptly, involving the department Director and Director of Operations as needed.
•Develop and implement performance improvement plans when necessary to resolve conflicts or performance concerns.
Administrative Oversight
•Review and approve timesheets, track, and manage PTO, and ensure department overhead billing codes are administered effectively for training, standards, and meetings.
•Maintain awareness of allocation and utilization metrics and ensure these targets are met through proper management.
Business Development and Proposal Management
•Participate in proposal efforts by developing budgets, identifying scope and resources, reviewing schedules, and generating proposal documents.
•Collaborate with the Director to review business development forecasts, maintain relationships with existing clients, and foster new business opportunities.
Staffing and Recruitment
•Use department utilization forecasts to identify staffing needs and actively participate in the recruitment process.
•Onboard new hires, conduct 90-day assessments, and recommend compensation adjustments as needed.
•Review and update performance metrics, job descriptions, and compensation in collaboration with the Director.
Technical Leadership and Quality Control
•Produce and review I&C engineering deliverables according to company standards and the RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed) framework.
•Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on technical deliverables, ensuring alignment with project goals and company procedures.
•Assist with other duties as assigned.
Education
•Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical engineering, or computer science is required.
•Professional engineering license is required.
Type of Experience Needed to be Successful
•10+ years of experience practicing discipline-specific engineering on multidiscipline project teams is required.
•5+ years of management experience is required.

•Advanced problem-solving skills to manage complex situations and resolve to solutions anticipating needs now and into the future.
•Demonstrated ability of leadership skills with experience leading teams through strategic processes and aligning with peer group project needs and timelines.
•Demonstrated Knowledge with PLC/DCS/ HMI Programming, as well as proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
•Ability to self-direct and have a sense of responsibility for own tasks, deliverables, and timelines, as well as have an awareness of own tasks, and how it impacts the team and deliverables.
Supervisory Expectations:
•The position supervises or manages the work of at least two full-time employees or the equivalent. The position includes decisions or recommendations regarding personnel actions such as hiring, disciplinary action, and changes in pay and terminations over time.

Work Hours:
Company Hours
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Hours vary and are dependent on business needs.
40-Hour Work Week
Monday through Friday, hours may vary with the workload.
Evenings/Weekends/OT
As needed to satisfy the requirements of the position.
