The Hydropower Operations & Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and compliant operation and maintenance of multiple hydropower facilities. This position ensures high availability, optimal performance, and regulatory compliance while leading and supporting site-based O&M teams. The position involves significant technical oversight, and coordination with engineering, environmental, and regulatory staff.
- Provide leadership and oversight for day-to-day O&M activities across multiple hydropower facilities.
- Monitor plant performance, availability, and operational efficiency to meet production targets.
- Ensure operational compliance with FERC, state and local regulations.
- Oversee preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs.
- Coordinate planned outages, equipment inspections, and repair activities.
- Manage contractor work scopes, budgets, and safety compliance.
- Supervise, mentor, and support plant operators.
- Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.
- Develop and manage annual O&M budgets for assigned facilities.
- Manage annual EAP training and reporting to the FERC.
- Prepare operational reports, maintenance records, and compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with asset management, engineering, and environmental teams on long-term asset strategies.- 7+ years of experience in power generation or industrial O&M. - 5+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems in power generation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in collaborative, cross-functional team environments.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, such as the FERC.
- Proficiency in maintenance management systems and operational reporting.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally up to 20% of the time.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical, or related field.
- Hydropower experience.
- Project management experience.
- Experience with SCADA systems and reliability-centered maintenance.
- Knowledge of dam safety programs and hydrological monitoring.
- Knowledge of FERC regulations and compliance standards, with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
