K&L Recycling is seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our hard-working team. We're not looking for part-changers—we're looking for a true, old-school mechanic who can think on their feet, diagnose issues without relying on a computer, and take pride in fixing things the right way. Work ethic and ability to learn is more important than knowledge. Candidate does not have to be a certified AWS welder, but ability to weld with a stick is non-negotiable.
Mechanic truck will be provided. The ability to stay out of town for short stints is a must. A clean MVR is a must.
- Receive on-the-job training by one of the best in the field.
- Diagnose and repair a variety of heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, forklifts, trailers and trucks.
- Perform in-house welding and fabrication work as needed.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Keep detailed maintenance records, DOT maintenance records and work reports.
- Travel to various locations throughout East Texas and our location in Kansas is required.
- Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic (minimum 3–5 years preferred).
- Strong welding and fabrication ability (Stick, cutting torches).
- Deep mechanical knowledge—you're not afraid to tear into an engine or rebuild a hydraulic system.
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working outdoors in a scrapyard or industrial environment.
