About This Job

The Isabella Pearl Mine is located at the West end of the Santa Fe mining district in the Walker Lane gold belt about 6 miles northeast of Luning, Nevada, in Mineral County.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

The Leach Operator maintains and operates the solution distribution system which supplies leach solution to stacked ores on the heap leach pad for the extraction of precious metal values. Equipment used includes pumps, piping, solution applicators (drips or sprays), pad liner, and freshwater addition to the process. Performs general operations and maintenance work as directed by the Process/Crusher Superintendent.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY & DUTIES

•

Provide accurate and complete records as required for specific tasks.

•

Maintain safe and clean work area.

•

Competent in neutralization/cleanup/prevention of solution spills

•

Samples, monitors, and records information from leak detection, monitoring wells, pad liner inspection, and storm events for reporting and analysis.

•

Work with plant and operation personnel to maintain water balance throughout the mine site.

•

Transfer carbon between columns, transport bins to strip plant, dead bed carbon columns, and set carbon plant flows using a forklift when needed.

•

Operate D6 dozer for the purpose of pre-ripping leach fields.

•

Thoroughly understands the relationship of each department to the entire project.

•

Basic understanding of fluid dynamics and hydraulics as it relates to pumps and pipes.

•

Preforms solution titrations for caustic and cyanide levels, ph instruments, AA machine, and “Jerome” meter.

•

Capable of operating spray distribution systems and carbon plants.

•

Planning for layout and calculation for drip and spray fields.

•

Prepare Daily Leach Report spreadsheet.

•

Performs various duties as directed by the supervisor.

Safety & Environmental:

•

Responsible and accountable for the performance, and compliance of mine site safety and environmental policies and procedures for all personnel and vendors.

•

Participate in Planned General Inspections.

•

Provide safety and environmental leadership by always setting a good example.

Key Relationships:

•

This role requires frequent interaction with department employees, supervision, management, and vendors to provide assistance, service, support, and problem resolution as needed.

•

Ability to build trust and develop positive working relationships with site personnel and regulatory agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

•

1-2 years experience as a leach operator in a similar environment.

•

1 - 2 years experience operating mobile equipment.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

•

Ability to operate a variety of light equipment, hand trucks, and vehicles

•

High school diploma or equivalent.

•

Strong time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines.

Physical Demands:

•

Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.

•

Able to wear and demonstrate to employees the use of personal protective equipment including hardhat, steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, earplugs, gloves (rubber, leather & cloth), and/or any other equipment required to do the job assigned safely.

•

Able to lift 50 pounds periodically and 100 pounds occasionally.

•

Able to read and interpret various safety warning signs and product MSDS, tags, and labels.

•

Ability to distinguish various colors as they relate to safety warning signs, tags, and labels.

•

Able to operate a telephone and mine phone/radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation for the purpose of communicating Warehouse information, issuing directives, and providing feedback, to management and subordinates.

•

Ability to hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches of warning alarms.
