Groundman Equipment Operator

KOSCIUSKO REMC IS SEEKING A FULL-TIME GROUNDMAN EQUIPMENT OPERATOR TO LINEMAN

Are you interested in starting as a Groundman Equipment Operator and advancing into a four-year lineman apprenticeship program? Can you furnish essential ground service and assistance to the line personnel in the construction, maintenance, and operation of the electric system, which will, through maximum competence in job performance and teamwork, be instrumental in providing the members with the best possible electric service at the lowest feasible cost?

We need someone to operate line trucks to transport employees and materials and to provide underground trenching. Will you provide the knowledge and service to assure the Cooperative of adequate custody and maximum utilization of assigned trucks, trailers, tools, and related equipment? EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

· High school graduate or equivalent (GED).

REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or be able to obtain one.

· Must have the ability to operate company vehicles safely.

· Heavy work occasionally requires up to 100 pounds of force and lifting/carrying up to 100 pounds frequently. Reaching and lifting overhead is required.

· Be able to work safely in all situations.

· Must be able to understand and practice Kosciusko REMC’s safety rules.

· Must learn and apply craft techniques, processes, and principles.

· Must take the initiative to complete work and cooperate with other employees. You must be able to take instruction.

· Must communicate respectfully and positively with internal and external contacts.

· Refrain from profane language, obscene actions, or any other negative behavior that would reflect unfavorably upon Kosciusko REMC.

· Restore job locations to a neat, safe condition following completion of work.

· This position is exposed to outside weather conditions, subject to storm or emergency work, and normal hazards of this trade. It will require emergency work after normal working hours.

· Perform work of this or any other classifications requiring equal or lesser skills.

· Must pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, and background check. This position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing consistent with DOT regulations and KREMC policies.

· Prefer to live in Kosciusko County, Warsaw, Indiana.

· Winter hours are 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Summer hours are 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
