EthosEnergy is currently seeking a Gas Turbine Test Engineer for our Houston, TX facility. This role will have technical leadership of a multi-engine gas turbine test facility located in Houston, Texas. The role has two principal areas of responsibility: (1) the testing and expert evaluation of gas turbine performance, emissions, and vibration results, and (2) the planning and execution of planned and ad-hoc maintenance to keep the test facility in a constant state of readiness for the next performance test. The candidate will also provide performance and vibration diagnosis and guidance to Field Service technicians.
Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate gas turbine engine, power turbine and gearbox installation and removal activities in accordance with production plans.
- Lead the gas turbine testing process to gather accurate high-fidelity performance, emissions, and vibration data in accordance with established procedures.
- Evaluate data in real time and tune the gas turbine on test to achieve optimum performance and emissions levels based on sound engineering principles.
- Host customer witness tests both in person and online.
- Evaluate performance, emissions, and vibration data for gas turbines that fail to meet criteria and assist production engineers to create workshop rework / corrective action plans.
- Troubleshoot test facility systems including gas systems, oil systems, water systems, hydraulic dynamometers, instrumentation, input and output modules, and programable logic controllers.
- Manage instrument calibration, safety systems and critical spares inventory for all systems.
- Manage performance and vibration acceptance limits.
- Maintain data gathering software tools, vibration analysis software and excel based performance programs.
- Take ownership of test facility key performance indicators and report monthly to management.
- Support field service technicians both in-person and using remote monitoring and diagnostic tools. Minimal travel will be required.
- Formally lead complex root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventative solutions in a variety of challenging environments.
- Participate in process creation and process improvements to optimize product Quality, Velocity and Cost.
- Project manage improvement projects from initiation through to closing using standard project management and reporting tools.
- Author technical reports including performance test and customer reports.
- Comply with company and local HSE requirements through both own actions and through encouraging others.
- Demonstrate good communication skills in terms of being able to provide technical guidance in both written and verbal forms.
- Ability to manage individual projects and to effectively lead small teams towards agreed deliverables.

- Five years of engineering experience in the field of high-speed rotational machinery or completion of a two-year graduate rotation program. Alternative experience can include factory acceptance testing or gas turbine commissioning.
- Strong ability to apply theoretical and practical gas turbine performance principles and practices. Familiarity with ISO2314 and PTC22 gas turbine performance calculations or an ability to learn these standards desirable.
- Ability to apply theoretical and practical combustion tuning principles and practices.
- Strong ability to apply theoretical and practical vibration analysis principles and practices. Vibration analyst CAT II certification or better desirable.
- Detailed knowledge of the Solar range of gas turbines very desirable.
- Familiarity of API 616, 684 and 687 desirable.
- Demonstrable project management experience desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering discipline.
- In-depth understanding of gas turbines overhaul, operation, and testing, including performance analysis, combustion tuning and vibration analysis techniques.
- Professional engineering license (Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer or equivalent) beneficial but not required.
- Able to interpret audible and visual indictors and safety alarms.
- Able to use 2-way radios (with and without headsets).
- Able to climb on and off equipment skids.
- Able to work adjacent to operational machines with provided PPE .
- Able to lift 30lb.
