Under the general supervision of the Gas Chief, will perform tasks and other work activities associated with the construction, operation and maintenance for the Pike County Light & Power natural gas distribution system.
1. Turn-on and turn-off (installation and removal) of new and existing gas and electric meters.
2. Shut off notices and lock for non-payment activities for gas and electric customers.
3. Construction inspection – Will perform inspection and oversight of third-party contractors at the direction of the Gas Chief.
4. Leak Investigation – Will be on-call as required (24 hours per day) to respond to gas leak/odor calls inside on customer facilities, outside on Company facilities and third-party damage calls. Will be required to properly investigate and classify the hazard and safely respond to and assure safety of customers, public and self. Response required within Company specified timeframes.
5. Locates and Mark-outs – Will respond to (normal and emergency) Underground Facility Locate requests (PA One Call; NY Dig Safely) to locate and mark-out the Company facilities.
6. Under the direction of the Gas Chief, perform some fitter type work to include but not limited to (meter and regulator piping fabrication, service and main installation, PE pipe joining, leak and third party damage repair, pressure testing, system purging, etc.)
7. System Inspections - Will perform required periodic system inspections and surveys (leak survey, valve survey, station inspections, etc.).
8. Under the direction of the Gas Chief, perform inspection, testing and maintenance of regulators, meters, meter correctors, heaters, filters, valves, odorizers, etc.
9. Meter Reading – Will be responsible to read Company meters.
10. Meter Changeouts – Will change gas meters and single-phase electric meters as necessary.
12. Customer interaction – Be able to discuss gas service issues with customers.
13. May perform other related assignments/special projects as required.
14. Will create and maintain all records associated with above work.
3. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills
4. Must have 1 years experience working the natural gas field including familiarly with all applicable regulations
5. Two years of field operations experience in electric and gas and construction preferable
6. Must have familiarity with the gas distribution system, Company policy, procedures, legal & ethical requirements, safety and environmental practices
7. Must be flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
8. Per Federal regulations, this position will require the individual to submit to and pass a pre-employment and random alcohol and drug testing
Directs gas contractors and other staff personnel as assigned.
1. Valid driver's license is required as well as travel to various locations
2. CDL A restricted license required within 12 months
3. Must have the ability to work extended overtime
