Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Overhead Crane Operator who can efficiently operate remote-controlled overhead cranes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for moving heavy materials, such as steel, machinery, or other industrial products, in a safe and precise manner. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and excellent coordination skills.
Primary Responsibilities
•Operate remote-controlled overhead cranes to lift, move, and position materials as required.
•Inspect crane equipment daily to ensure it is in proper working condition and report any mechanical issues.
•Use hand signals, verbal communication, or other methods to coordinate with ground crew for safe material handling.
•Follow load charts, weight limits, and safety guidelines to avoid equipment overloads or unsafe operations.
•Conduct pre-operational checks to ensure the crane is functioning correctly, including brakes, cables, and remote-control devices.
•Load and unload materials accurately and safely to designated areas, such as trucks, storage racks, or workstations.
•Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure the safety of yourself and team members.
•Keep detailed logs of crane activities, including loads handled and any incidents.
•Comply with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards.
•Attend safety meetings, training sessions, and certifications as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
•Education: High school diploma or GED required.
•Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating overhead cranes, preferably with remote controls.
•Certifications: Must possess or be willing to obtain a crane operator certification (e.g., NCCCO or equivalent).
+ Strong understanding of load dynamics, weight distribution, and material handling.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, load charts, and work orders.
+ Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
+ Familiarity with remote-control systems and their maintenance.
+ Basic mechanical knowledge to perform minor troubleshooting.
+ Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.
+ Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed.
+ Good vision and hearing to detect safety hazards and follow instructions.
Work Environment
•Industrial or manufacturing setting with exposure to heavy machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
•PPE, including hard hats, gloves, and safety boots, must be worn at all times.
