Position Title: FORENSIC AUDITOR Location: HOUSTON, TX (CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS) FLSA Class: EXEMPT Responsible to: CHIEF ADMINISTATION OFFICE
Position Summary: The Forensic Auditor is responsible for conducting investigative audits, analyzing financial and operational data, and identifying irregularities that could expose VoltaGrid to financial, compliance, or reputational risks. This role plays a critical part in strengthening the company’s internal controls, ensuring transparency, and supporting ethical business practices. The Forensic Auditor will collaborate closely with Finance, People Operations, Legal/Compliance, and Operations to proactively detect risks, investigate suspected misconduct, and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct forensic audits of financial statements, expense reports, payroll records, vendor contracts, and operational data.
- Investigate allegations of fraud, waste, abuse, or misconduct across the organization.
- Perform data analytics to detect anomalies, unusual trends, or suspicious transactions.
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements to mitigate financial, compliance, and operational risks.
- Partner with the CAO to design governance frameworks that reduce vulnerability to fraud and misconduct.
- Provide recommendations for policy, procedural, and system enhancements.
- Prepare clear, detailed investigative reports and communicate findings to the CAO and executive leadership.
- Support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Assist with regulatory or external audits as required.
- Partner with Finance and Operations to test accuracy of reporting, inventory management, and asset protection.
- Work with People Operations and Legal on investigations involving employee conduct, conflicts of interest, or ethical concerns.
- Advise leadership on fraud prevention strategies, awareness training, and ethical business practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in auditing, forensic accounting, fraud investigation, or compliance (energy, industrial, or technology sector experience preferred).- Strong knowledge of auditing standards, forensic investigation methodologies, and internal controls.
- Experience analyzing large datasets, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools.
- Exceptional investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills with the ability to present findings to executives.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Investigative mindset with attention to detail.
- Strong ethical judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating across functions.
- Proactive approach to identifying risks and recommending solutions
