What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Grocery Manager, the Food Store Receiver is responsible for delivering world-class customer service; receiving and unloading trucks; and maintaining department cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Be a liaison and public relations representative for the Co-op within the communities we serve.
•Deliver world-class customer service that is fast, friendly and efficient.
•Receive and unload deliveries of grocery, produce, dairy, frozen, and general merchandise
•Verify shipment contents against invoices, packing slips, or purchase orders
•Inspect products for damage, spoilage, or quality issues
•Accurately document received goods and note any discrepancies
•Use pallet jacks, hand trucks, or forklifts to move stock (as required)
•Label, date, and organize incoming inventory by department and storage requirements
•Ensure all perishable items are stored promptly in appropriate temperature zones and complete temperature checks as required
•Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving area and backroom storage
•Communicate with vendors and store management regarding delivery issues
•Follow food safety and sanitation procedures at all times
•Report shortages, overages, or damaged goods to department leads or managers
•Rotate stock following FIFO (First In, First Out) practices
•Support inventory counts and cycle counts as needed
•Collaborate with department staff to restock shelves or storage areas
•Load grocery stock carts to support the courtesy clerks in stocking/facing duties
•Fill soft drinks and water displays daily
•Dispose of packaging materials and pallets safely and efficiently
•Adhere to store policies and standard operating procedures
•Track and file receiving documents for internal recordkeeping
•Operate receiving systems or handheld scanners as required
•Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with delivery personnel
•Observe safety measures and report hazardous conditions immediately to the Grocery Manager.
•Assist in the proper care and maintenance of all department equipment.
•Follow safe front-line loss prevention practices, and maintain a constant alert against unauthorized removal of merchandise.
•Perform other duties as assigned.

•You have, or are willing to obtain Forklift Certification.
•You are well organized and capable of attaining a high level of production with minimal supervision.
•You can fulfill physical job requirements - some heavy lifting is required.
