Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee our fleet operations and ensure the efficient management of our vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and demonstrate excellent leadership skills, ensuring that all fleet activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. This role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, scheduling, and customer service, contributing to the overall success of our operations.
Responsibilities
•Coordinate vehicle maintenance
•Manage the Mechanic Shop, including 2 full-time Mechanics
•Planning of preventative maintenance schedule
•Examine vehicles with reported problems, determining appropriate action to be taken
•Act as a resource to drivers and trouble shoot minor issues
•Monitor and maintain vehicle downtime, which includes vehicle pickup and return
•Inspect vehicles for damage, safety and on-board emergency equipment operation
•Ensure the fleet meets all Ministry of Transportation legislation/licensing
•Manage inventory and order parts as necessary
•Liaison with local mechanic shops and parts vendors
•Ensure vehicle assets are monitored for usage, utilization and performance
•Ensure fleet meets all annual regulatory requirements (MTO, TC, Measurement Canada and others as applicable)
•Other duties are assigned
Qualifications
•A minimum of five (5) years of heavy truck experience
•Mechanic certification preferred but not required
•Valid Ontario DZ class license
•Propane experience preferred
•After hours on call availability is required
•Organized and manage several items concurrently, with an emphasis on determining priorities and organizing activities
•Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality of work
Hours
Monday to Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm with after hours/weekend/on call availability for emergencies. Longer hours may be required during the busy heating season.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
