The Financial Trading Analyst reports to the Manager of Portfolio Optimization and is responsible for supporting the Financial Trading Desk. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional with strong technical and analytical skills who is eager to learn and grow in a natural gas marketing environment. You’ll work closely with a team of traders to ensure trade accuracy, analyze market data, and help automate key processes. While this position can be a stepping stone to a trading role, it also offers a long-term path in analytics and/or operations.
- Support daily trading operations including deal entry, trade/position reconciliation, and daily processes.
- Validate and report daily PnL, risk metrics, and position data for financial natural gas trades.
- Maintain and validate financial models, including daily input updates and assumption testing.
- Assist in preparing market commentary and sales materials.
- Become a subject matter expert in Endur (ETRM system) and internal risk platforms.
- Coordinate intracompany transactions and ensure proper value transfer between entities.
- Help automate repetitive processes and improve data workflows using tools like Python and Excel.
- Collaborate with Risk, Credit, Sales, and Senior Leadership as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university is required (OR a combination of education and experience providing an equivalent level of knowledge)
- 2 years of experience in financial or energy trading, middle office, or analytical support roles preferred.
- Strong analytical and statistical thinking; experience working with large datasets required.
- Proficiency in Python, Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or other data analysis and automation tools required.
- Understanding of commodity option price models (e.g. Black-Scholes), quantitative risk metrics (e.g. Value-at-Risk, volatility, correlation), and general finance concepts (e.g. time value of money, interest rates, derivatives) required.
- Familiarity with Endur or other ETRM systems is a plus.
- Understanding of natural gas infrastructure, trading hubs, and market dynamics preferred.

- Able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time as required by job responsibilities.
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and comprehending the English language.
- Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Able to work in a fast-paced office environment with a high-volume workload, including the possibility of working beyond standard hours and on nights/weekends to meet deadlines.
- Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether it is an open office, cubicle or private office.
- Able to travel occasionally, possibly overnight, and to attend meetings and conferences, when required.
