The Role
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of project-level and company-level financial models and presentations. As the company is a successful, growing start-up, the Financial Analyst will work very closely with the Chief Financial Officer and other members of the management team to effect positive change in a high-growth environment. The opportunity for the right individual will be to contribute to a future liquidity event for employees and investors. Utility Global is majority owned by Ara Partners.
Ara Partners | Global Private Equity in Decarbonization Responsibilities include:- Own and manage all financial models for the company, which include project-level models, company-wide budget models and consolidated financial model for investors, working with colleagues and investors to ensure consistency in assumptions across models;
- Budgeting and planning process: Support the annual budget process, and then track performance continuously with relevant budget contact person; Work with operations team members to understand revenue and expense drivers, influencing as necessary to help improve performance.
- Commercial project economic analysis: Work with the commercial and operating organizations to translate commercial and business intelligence into financial models and presentation materials.
- Internal and investor reporting: Along with the Director of Finance, develop reporting packages that provide routine and ad-hoc analysis and presentations, including cash forecasting; project economics and other analysis.
- Work with department heads to assist in understanding their costs and performance drivers – help the company become more cost conscious and focused.
Monitor research, market and peer reports, constantly reading and incorporating research materials into company information. Be a student of market research and 10K’s/Q’s of our peers and translate that for the company;
- Support the review, demonstration, selection and deployment of the next ERP system, taking into account functional department needs.
- Ad-Hoc reporting and analysis as required
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related major is a minimum;
- 3-5 years’ experience as a financial analyst out of banking or related industry, such as industrial gases, energy, chemical, steel, etc; private company experience/exposure helpful.
- Phenomenal Excel and PowerPoint Skills related to financial modeling and financial analysis and project economics analysis;
- Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong focus on details and high quality of work products. The individual needs to be highly organized and accurate. Mistakes are human, but minimizing mistakes are critical to this role.
- Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated. Must be able to step away from the numbers and answer ‘what is happening?’ in the business.
- Solid experience interacting and presenting to stakeholders including executive management, financial analysts, and/or shareholders.
- Evidence of inherent drive, high energy level, intellectual curiosity, willingness to do what it takes to be a key contributor and top performer, and a sense of urgency to achieve business growth and success; and
- Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity; Must be willing to work with and assist others in the organization – a collaborative work style.
