Employees in this role are responsible for the accounting and settlements for revenues, costs, and inventories for PMI, EMT, FPL wholesale transactions, Gexa ISO market settlements, and NEER asset merchant activities and hedging; including commodities, products, and contracts that include physical and financial power and fuel, Full Requirements, ISO market transactions, and Emissions/Renewable Energy Credits. This job ensures accurate calculations and proper recording of transactions in the company's financial statements in accordance with GAAP, while maintaining compliance with company policies, procedures and Sox controls. Employees in this role collaborate with PMI/EMT traders, Trading Risk Management, NEER business managers, NEER Financial Controllers, counterparties, BPO staff, auditors, NEE tax, FPL finance, and IT teams, providing business unit support, troubleshooting issues, and identifying solutions to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
1. Train, monitor, and provide guidance to lower-level staff and BPO on new and existing activities ensuring their understanding and proficiency
2. Conduct data analysis and reviews, collaborating with PMI/EMT front office, business management, customers and IT to resolve data issues and disputes efficiently
3. Execute various accounting responsibilities including month-end close, financial reporting, audit support, AR and AP aging reviews, and providing variance explanations
4. Support the development of design requirements to automate new and existing processes, and perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
5. Perform non-standard invoicing tasks that are not handled by BPO
6. Provide support and reporting for business units and customers, including ad-hoc requests
Employees in this role supports Senior Management decision making via financial modeling, including but not limited to, revenue requirement and customer bill impacts, discounted cash flow analysis and financial statement modeling. This position identifies and conducts moderately complex analyses of financial impacts of issues and/or decisions facing the company and proposes strategies to maximize financial performance of company.
