The opportunity
We are seeking a driven Financial Analyst to assist in the financial modeling of growth capital projects across North America. The individual will assist in capital project analysis from the idea generation phase through the approval process.
What You’ll Do•Build, enhance and maintain complex financial models
•Collaborate with Business Development teams to develop comprehensive financial models that evaluate capital investments and strategic opportunities aligned to commercial agreements within an existing regulatory framework
•Provide financial analysis and guidance to all levels of the organization, while building a strong internal network with stakeholders across accounting, finance, regulatory, legal, operations, and commercial
•Conduct complex analytical assignments requiring theoretical and practical application of concepts, models and methodologies
•Provide independent oversight of project due diligence in the assessment of capital investment opportunities, aligning with company goals and risk tolerance
•Assist in the preparation of corporate project approval materials
•Present financial findings and recommendations to management in a clear and structured manner
•Perform other job-related duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, mathematics, economics or a related field
•Proven proficiency in Excel, including experience with complex formulas
•Excellent analytical, prioritization and communication skills
•Highly self-motivated and able to thrive independently while managing competing priorities and deadlines
•Understanding key components of financial statements
•Ability to stay flexible and responsive under pressure, including adapting work hours to meet critical deadlines.
•Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
•Collaborative and team-oriented, with a desire for continuous learning and growth
Preferred Qualifications
•Professional designation (MBA, CPA, CFA or equivalent)
•2+ years of relevant experience
•Strong understanding of corporate finance concepts
•Energy industry experience
•Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Canada Energy Regulator (CER), Comisión Nacional de Energía (CNE), or other utility experience from a commercial or regulatory perspective
