Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. We are focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production, and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
We are currently seeking a qualified and proactive Field Water Supervisor to join our operations team. This position plays a critical role in overseeing water operations across the field, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements, and maintaining high health, safety, and environmental standards.
This role is ideal for an individual with a solid understanding of water systems and infrastructure in the oil and gas industry and a strong ability to lead field personnel and coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting to the Water Operations Superintendent, you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Planning
•Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Alberta and BC regulations, including Directive 55, the Water Act, and OGC standards.
•Ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation as well as internal corporate water management policies.
•Review and verify water plans, licenses, diversion restrictions, and water use agreements.
Field Operations & Supervision
•Oversee daily field operations for water sourcing, transfer, storage, and AWSS (Above-Water Storage System) setup.
•Supervise contractors on-site to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
•Collaborate with Area Engineers and Superintendents to align operational plans and expectations.
•Ensure proper equipment layout and regulatory compliance on leases and water project sites.
Health, Safety & Emergency Response
•Conduct regular safety meetings, enforce PPE usage, and uphold Tourmaline’s safety protocols.
•Respond to incidents, including spills or non-compliances, and ensure timely reporting to relevant authorities.
•Maintain readiness to act on emergency response plans (ERPs).
Technical Knowledge & Reporting
•Maintain and submit accurate water usage, diversion, and transfer reports.
•Monitor project progress, track associated costs, and submit field documentation to the office.
•Utilize tools such as Excel and SharePoint to manage records and support project reporting.
•Ensure proper documentation and regulatory submissions are completed on schedule.
Qualifications
•Minimum 5 years of experience in water operations, preferably within the oil and gas sector.
•Strong working knowledge of AWSS setups, water transfer operations, and related infrastructure.
•Familiarity with regulatory requirements in Alberta and British Columbia, including water licensing and reporting obligations.
•Health and Safety certifications including H2S Alive, First Aid, and the ability to enforce field safety standards.
•Proficient in Microsoft Excel and SharePoint; experience with water management systems is an asset.
•Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to supervise, mentor, and coordinate multiple contractors and field personnel.
