Lead and train other technicians while performing jobs on natural gas engines and compressors. Promote good attitudes with technicians to accomplish the job. Job planning with Regional Field Service Manager for correct parts, tools, technicians and equipment. Daily communication to customer and regional field service manager of progress or any circumstances that may delayed the job. Promote safe work practices and insure that JSA and all HSE requirements for job are followed. Fill out detailed service reports, review with customer and have signed daily. Keep your Regional Field Service Manager/Leaderman informed to job progression daily.
The Field Technician – Journeyman is responsible and accountable for, but not limited to, the following:
Perform tasks with minimal supervision and according to WPI and OEM standards
Able to read schematics, blueprints, sketches, drawing and specifications
Determines the best possible procedure to perform job safely and effectively
Perform Waukesha Service Bulletin upgrades as sent by factory
Inspects own work at each step checking tolerances and correct fit that matches OEM spec’s.
Demonstrates excellent productivity for job task being performed
Complete all required paperwork including service reports, PM’s sheets, JSEA, inspection forms, Waukesha startup and deferred startup forms, failure assessment form, compressor inspection forms, etc
Work safely and maintain the work with high standards of housekeeping on location and in-service truck
Performs required Preventative Maintenance activities on company and personal own air tools, air compressor, truck, crane, etc.
LO/TO of every job assigned and reviewed with crew
Must own basic tooling for position, (open end and boxed end wrenches from 1/4 -2”), (3/8”, 1/2 and 3/4” ratchet and socket sets), (Air impacts 3/8, 1/2, 3/4), (Screw drivers sets), Hammers, sledges, and a fluke 87-volt ohm meter, at a minimum)
Aid customers as requested on issues they are having
Other duties as may be assigned by management
Minimum of 4 years working on Industrial Engines (natural gas/diesel, etc.)
Must be Waukesha certified technician by attending and passing GET, ESM and one of the following VGF, VHP or AT classes
Must have a valid driver license and have a driving record that complies with WPI insurance requirements
Knowledge of OEM equipment and proficient in troubleshooting both natural gas engines and compressors
Knowledge and experience all tooling, including laser alignment, Hytorc, borescopes, and emissions analyzer
Must be proficient in computer skills (basic operation, Windows, and Micro Soft Office)
Knowledge of electronic controls such as PLC’s, Murphy panels, Altronic, and ESM
Detail Oriented: Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well
Functional Expert: Considered a thought leader on a subject
