We’re looking for a versatile and motivated Field Technician to join our team! This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in dynamic environments, and is eager to work across different industries and job sites. As a Field Technician, you’ll be responsible for the installation, testing, servicing, repair, and maintenance of electrical and controls hardware, fiber optic cabling, fire suppression systems, and other related services. Your work will support both surface and underground mining facilities, as well as commercial and industrial operations.
This position offers the opportunity to build a broad skill set while working on impactful projects. No two days will be the same, and we're looking for someone who can adapt quickly and jump into different types of tasks with confidence. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn. Experience in electrical systems, fire suppression, controls, or fiber optics is helpful, but we’re open to training the right person who brings the right attitude.
Flexibility is a must in this role, as project needs may require working extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Travel to various job sites is also a regular part of the position. What You'll Do:
•Assist with the installation of electrical and controls hardware, fiber optic cable, fire suppression systems, and any other applicable services provided by the Evansville Division
•Become familiar with fiber optic equipment such as splicers, OTDR (optical time domain refractometer), traffic identifiers, light-source power-meter, fiber specific hand tools, etc.
•Learn proper methods and procedures for terminating, splicing, and testing fiber optic cables, installation of electrical conduit and cables, and installation of fire suppression systems.
•Learn Industry Standard procedures for safety, electrical, and fiber optics
•Assist other divisions as/when needed for various services, which could include extensive travel
•Read and interpret blue prints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics and operational product manuals
What You'll Bring:
•Technical/mechanical knowledge and abilities. Electrical and fiber optic knowledge is a plus
•Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and schematics
•Must be willing to attend training and remain updated with regard to industry standards and requirements
•Ability to work underground for extended periods of time
•Underground mining experience is a plus but not required
•Able to work a flexible schedule and adjust to changing business needs to include possible work involving emergency call-out, extended hours and some out-of-town and overnight work
Working Conditions
•Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel
•Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
•Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations
•Wear safety equipment: as per OSHA/MSHA requirements including but not limited steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, fire retardant, protective eye wear, etc.
•Be safety and customer-focused, without exception
