The Field Service Technician performs mechanical and electrical tasks related to the installation and repair of high precision diesel fuel meters and associated data collection hardware for mobile mining equipment. This role will be responsible for providing installation and technical support for a global customer base, with most work being performed in English language geographies. The individual must be able to work independently and must always conduct themselves with the highest regards for safety and professionalism.
Technical Responsibilities:
•Perform equipment installations at customer sites including installing inline fuel meters in the diesel fuel delivery system, connecting to CANBUS networks, vehicle power, GPS equipment and wiring harnesses to connect all equipment
•Work with customers to troubleshoot and suggest repairs to equipment
•Repair equipment at customer sites when needed
•Ensure equipment uptime exceeds 90%
•Provide weekly reports of equipment issues
•Complete all specified site safety requirements, orientations and other induction procedures
•Pass mandatory site health checks , Drug and Alcohol tests when required
•Review equipment drawings and schematics to identify details of hydraulic and electrical integration
•Communicate with customer staff to arrange equipment access and train on site technicians when needed
•Perform final inspection and functionality of equipment
•Use a computer to perform calibration and diagnostics
•Create and complete Work Orders in CMMS program Tracking site inventory of spare parts
•Internally work with Account Managers to ensure customer needs are being met
•Be proactive in finding solutions to equipment failures and work with engineering as necessary to improve quality and reliability
Requirements:
•Knowledge and experience with electrical components and wiring
•Knowledge of fuel lines and hydraulic fittings
•Basic mechanic skills on heavy equipment
•Good understanding of computer equipment and diagnostic tools
•Strong communication skills for internal and customer communication
•Mechanical engineering or Heavy duty mechanic experience considered an asset
Working Conditions:
•Frequency of travel will vary with customer activity. Typical trips will vary in length between 1 -2 weeks
•Candidate must be eligible to travel internationally within North America and occasionally Internationally to large mining operations
•This is a Full-time role that requires 25% - 50% travel that varies depending on customer requirements
