SUMMARY: Performs heavy manual labor and operates any required mechanical equipment used by Field Services Teams. Performs operations such as rodding, excavation, digging, dipping, pumping, punching and cleaning. Understands the total operation of the Team sufficiently to perform duties required to run the Team in the absence of the Construction Tradesman. Coordinates with Construction Tradesman to complete jobs as required. Exercises responsibility for upkeep and preventive maintenance of all mechanical equipment used by the Team and sets up safety equipment with minimal supervision. Attend all seminars and training given by Columbus Water Works. Employee will be required to perform on-call duties on a rotating schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:
Prepare for daily assignments by loading assigned truck with all necessary materials, supplies, and equipment as per supervisor(s) introductions.
Clean and wash and fuel vehicles and equipment as needed.
Unloads, sets up at job sites and operates with little or no direct supervision specific equipment used in Team operations such as Rodding Machines, Tapping Machines, Boring Machines Jack hammer, tamp Pipe saw, dump truck and all other essential tools and equipment.
Coordinates with Construction Tradesman and Construction Foreman to complete jobs as required.
Performs manual labor associated with the construction and maintenance of a Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection System with minimal supervision. Exhibits ability to perform heavy manual labor under directions of supervisor(s)
From time to time, this employee may be called upon to perform other duties as deemed necessary by his supervisor.
Confined Spaces Entry, Entry of manholes and other tight spaces.

High school graduate or GED is the minimum education requirement for position. Possession of a valid Drivers License and a good driving record is required. Possession of a valid Driver’s License and a good driving record are required. A minimum of one-year construction experience and/or pipeline construction experience is preferred. Ability to perform heavy manual labor required. Ability to receive certification in Confined Space Entry, Trench Excavation, Flagging, CPR and First Aid Standard within one year of employment required. A Commercial Driver's License within six months of employment is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings and operating instructions.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and measure.
Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
