About This Job

The Role

The Field Services Supervisor serves a vital role in the Engineering Department by leading a team of Field Service Representatives (FSRs) in creating, reviewing, and implementing plans for utility distribution systems; ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance is met with utility and regulatory standards. The supervisor plays a critical role in managing resources, coordinating with stakeholders, and delivering cost- effective solutions that meet member expectations and organizational needs. The Field Services Supervisor reports to the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

•

Responsible for making sure that Field Services Team is using safe work practices at all times and in all situations.

•

Coordinates with engineers and consultants to ensure that the design and layout of the Association's distribution and transmission systems are in accordance with the requirements of the Rural Utilities Service (RUS), the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), local ordinances, environmental regulations, and sound engineering practices so that the system safely meets the needs of the Association's existing and future consumers.

Ensures that all necessary easements are acquired, recorded, filed, etc. as needed to accommodate the construction and maintenance of the Association's distribution system. To set up and maintain an efficient process for completing this work.

•

Ensures that all pole attachments meet RUS, NESC and Association requirements, and that the associated companies abide by the established contracts in regard to their design, construction, maintenance, payment, etc.

•

Manages the Field Services Team in the most efficient way possible to ensure that all projects are completed in a timely manner to meet the electrical service needs of the Association's existing and new members. Provides coaching and constructive feedback to FSRs to promote professional growth.

•

Oversees work order creation in Financials and workflow tasks in Service for types and opportunities to induce efficiencies to the process with Field Services and other departments.

•

Maintains effective relationships with all municipal, county, state, and national agencies; and developers and builders that operate within the Association's service area.

•

Ensures that FSRs know, understand, and follow YVEA policies & procedures. Reviews, prepares and/or validates all invoicing, payment requests, and received funds in accordance with Association policy.

•

Coordinates work with other Association departments, personnel or other utilities as needed to achieve project and Association goals.

•

Ensures that work is collected and mapped accurately for inclusion into the Association's Mapping and Accounting & Business Solutions (ABS) systems.

•

Coordinates with Association personnel to procure the material and equipment needs for current and future projects that are identified in Association's Work

•

Manages desktop and mobile software applications utilized by the Field Services team. This includes evaluation, procurement, staff training, testing, and trouble- shooting issues.

•

Participates on the YVEA Standards Committee and the Design Review Team (DRT) in Steamboat Springs for upcoming projects

•

mobile inspections for Field Services, Engineering and Operations field personnel to issue.

•

Responsible for maintaining YVEA Construction Standards manual drawings for new, updated, or revised drawings. Coordinates changes to CAD drawings with the GIS / CAD Supervisor.

•

Reviews all work orders for accuracy and completeness prior to closing with

•

Creates and maintains construction assembly units in Financials and MapWise for material accuracy and costs.

•

Coordinates approved material updates or inclusion with purchasing agent for catalog numbers and RUS item numbering suggestions

•

Responsible for maintaining accuracy and CAD drawings for the Electric Service Requirements Coordinates changes to CAD drawings with the GIS / CAD Supervisor.

•

Other duties as assigned.

Key Skills and Experience Required

Key Skills

•

Thorough working knowledge of utility distribution field staking design, assembly units, and in-field practices and processes.

•

Knowledgeable in Microsoft software suite, AutoCAD or other drawing software, NISC iVUE modules and MapWise field staking software.

•

Ability to maintain confidential

Key Experience

•

Associate's degree in engineering technology or associated field, or 5+ years of progressive industry experience in linework, engineering design or field staking medium-voltage utility systems.

•

Maintain a working knowledge of all relevant standards and codes (e.g., NESC, NEC, RUS, etc) affecting the Association, as well as working knowledge of the Association's overhead and underground electric facilities.

•

Previous supervisory experience is preferred but not

•
