As a Field Safety Technician, you will support the Safety Director in enforcing and promoting safety practices across construction and mining drilling and blasting job sites. This includes on-site monitoring, pre-task plan participation, hazard recognition, incident response, and documentation to ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and company standards.
✔ Participate in daily site safety walks and inspections
✔ Monitor employee adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements
✔ Attend and contribute to pre-task safety meetings and toolbox talks
✔ Assist in completing and reviewing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Pre-Task Plans
✔ Ensure signage, barricading, and exclusion zones are maintained
✔ Promote and model a proactive safety culture
✔ Conduct equipment, chemical, and site condition inspections
✔ Report daily findings to the Safety Director
✔ Ability to remain calm and assertive in high-stress environments
✔ Attention to detail in observing and documenting safety behaviors
✔ Familiarity with construction equipment, explosives safety, and field protocols
✔ Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for safety forms and photos
✔ Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required
✔ Ability to walk rough terrain, climb embankments, and navigate construction/mine sites
✔ Tolerate extreme weather conditions including heat, cold, and wind
✔ Drive between job sites using a company vehicle
✔ Wear PPE as required (hard hat, vest, boots, eye/ear protection, respirators)
✔ MSHA 24-Hour Surface New Miner or Refresher Training (preferred)
✔️MSHA Authorized Instructor for Surface Operations(preferred) or willing to obtain
