Responsible for supporting utility-scale and large commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation construction projects. Assists in setting, measuring, and maintaining project safety, quality, and schedule goals. Experienced in a variety of the field concepts, practices, and procedures required to build PV and Battery Storage projects. Performs a variety of tasks, including construction administration and coordination, material procurement, obtaining subcontractor bids, performing cost analysis, field survey and layout, coordination of power shutdowns, and coordination of AHJ and special inspections. May occasionally lead and direct construction crews or subcontractors, as well as assist with field installation work. Provides expert assistance to Project Management and Engineering in defining improvements and lessons learned for future projects. Works closely with onsite Construction Managers to assist with planning and coordinating work.
- Acts as an informed resource for engineering and construction teams.
- Maintains current knowledge of changes in project requirements and codes.
- Supports all aspects of construction (i.e., mobilization, scheduling, communication, reporting project changes, logistics, leading resolution to construction and design document issues).
- Acts as liaison between engineering team, construction, and subcontractors in the submission and resolution of RFI’s.
- Assists with pre-construction site visits, and SES investigations. To include filling out forms, coordination of schedules, and drafting agendas.
- Assists with commissioning activities and system performance verification to ensure that arrays are installed to correct specifications.
- Responsible for coordination of various engineering and permitting tasks as required. To include survey work, geotechnical boring, blue stake tickets, and private locating.
- Travels to various project sites including potential extended travel as required by the project.
- Assists in maintaining current engineering drawings and construction documentation that is utilized for active construction and maintained in an as-built state.
- Assists with project close-out tasks, including but not limited to achieving project and punch list completion, site walks and inspection walks with contractors, AHJ, clients and client representatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline or construction management. (Preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a construction field engineer or project engineer.
- Previous PV or electrical system construction experience preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD highly preferred but not required.
- Experience directing and managing construction crews or subcontractors is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, intermediate to advanced computer skills.
- Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally up to 90%.
- Must possess current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
