The Facility Security Officer will be responsible for administering the government security program at the GE Vernova Advanced Research Center, ensuring compliance with National Industrial Security Program Operation Manual (NISPOM) and Intelligence Community Directives. The incumbent will serve as a technical expert in regulatory requirements, developing business policies, procedures, and training for the security program.
- Participate in and lead organization security initiatives.
- Manage all aspects of the National Industrial Security Program.
- Provide guidance on security matters to employees.
- Maintain liaison with government and customer security organizations.
- Manage classified information accountability.
- Partner with the Digital Technology Security Team to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Perform as the site Communications Security (COMSEC) custodian.
- Develop crisis management and business continuity plans.
- Provide regulatory security education and awareness programs.
- Collaborate with other GE businesses, defense industry colleagues, and security associations.
- Serve as the primary interface with GE Vernova and the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DSCA).
- Provide oversight of all classified programs, including COMSEC, DD254 management, and security training.
- Manage Personnel Security (PERSEC) functions, including clearance processing and maintenance.
- Coordinate inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and manage classified guards to ensure the security of classified information and assets.
- Lead the Insider Threat program, identifying and mitigating potential threats to national security.
- Manage room access and classified escorts to ensure the secure handling of classified information.
- Perform Industrial Security Specialist responsibilities, including the administration of security procedures and protocols.
- Develop and implement security policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct security training and awareness programs to educate employees on security protocols and procedures.
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience as an FSO, Assistant FSO, DCSA Industrial Security Representative or comparable work in classified spaces.
- Working knowledge of NISPOM, UL-2050, and COMSEC requirements.
- Understanding of security databases such as NBIS, DISS, and NISS.
- Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to have a current or active Secret Clearance with an ability to attain a Top Secret Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.
- Willingness to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
- In-depth knowledge of NISPOM, UL-2050, COMSEC, and other government security regulations.
- COMSEC Custodian training certificate
- FSO certification through DCSA
- Compliance focus with ability to enforce industrial security requirements.
- 10+ years of experience in corporate or government security roles.- Strong business analysis, problem-solving, and strategy development skills.
- Familiarity with RMF, eMASS, and SIMS applications.
- Experience developing and implementing OPSEC plans.
- Knowledge of Access Control and Intrusion Detection Systems.
- Experience with Closed Area construction requirements.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to manage risk and uncertainty.
- Military experience in classified spaces, such as:
- SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) management
- Classified operations and security procedures
- Experience with classified communications and networks
- Familiarity with military security regulations and protocols (e.g. DoD 5200.2-R, DoD 8500.2)
- Prior service in a military intelligence, security, or operations role
The base pay range for this position is $83,600-$139,200. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. This position will be posted until at least 9/16/2025.
