The Fabrication Shop Coordinator supports the Fabrication Shop Supervisor by assisting with job tracking, workflow coordination, material organization, and communication throughout the fabrication shop. This role helps ensure production runs efficiently and on schedule.
- Monitor all active jobs and track progress throughout the day.
- Help ensure jobs stay on schedule and prepare upcoming tasks in advance.
- Verify material availability and confirm correct heat numbers.
- Gather and stage parts, materials, and equipment needed for upcoming work.
- Relay updates between welders, fitters, QC, and the Shop Supervisor.
- Communicate job statuses, delays, changes, and priorities clearly.
- Print drawings, assemble job packets, and keep documentation organized.
- Update job boards and ensure daily timecards are collected and entered.
- Assist with daily cleanup and general shop organization.
- Prepare work areas and stage materials for upcoming jobs.
- Strong communication skills-verbal and written.
- Solid organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and stay calm in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Basic understanding of fabrication, welding, or manufacturing workflow.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings (Tekla prints preferred).
- Experience with Tekla Structures or Tekla EPM (viewing, printing, navigating).
- Comfortable walking the shop floor and coordinating with multiple teams.
- Ability to lift 2550 lbs regularly and stand for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills (email, job boards, printing drawings, data entry).
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Prior experience in a fabrication, welding, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with job tracking, scheduling, or shop coordination.
- Familiarity with material identification and heat numbers.
- Experience updating or navigating Tekla EPM Work Orders.
