Coastal Pipeline Inc is seeking a skilled and dependable Tailman to join our team. In this role, you will support pipe layers with all aspects of pipe installation, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in waterline, sewer, and drainage pipe installation and be familiar with working in Florida's challenging weather conditions.

Coastal Pipeline, Inc., a family-owned and operated underground utility construction firm, has been serving Broward and Palm Beach counties since 1964. With three generations of experience, our staff brings over 120 years of expertise in estimating and field supervision to each project. Incorporated in Florida in 1995, we specialize in all phases of underground utility work, including water distribution, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, fire suppression, and sitework. Our successful completion of all awarded projects is a testament to our strong working relationships with engineers, general contractors, owners, and city/county authorities.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
•Pipe Laying Assistance: Assist pipe layers with all aspects of pipe laying, including handling materials, setting pipes at correct elevations, and ensuring proper alignment.
•Grading: Perform grading tasks using a shovel to prepare the site for pipe installation.
•Cement Work: Execute cement work on pipe and structure connections, including bringing manhole tops and catch basin tops to grade.
•Installation Skills: Install pipes at correct elevations, build inverts in manholes, and be familiar with water line, sewer, and drainage pipe installation processes.
•Equipment Operation: Use tools such as a transit level, laser level, 4' level, and torpedo level to ensure accurate installations.
•Specialized Skills: Tighten bolts on waterlines with the correct torque and lay pipe in/under water.
•Compaction and Well Point Systems: Be familiar with operating a plate compactor and understand the workings of a well point system.
•Weather Adaptability: Be acclimated to Florida's weather conditions and work effectively in various environmental conditions.
•Punctuality: Arrive on time and maintain a reliable attendance record.
•Professional Conduct: Keep personal cell phone use restricted to breaks and ensure it remains in your vehicle during work hours.
The Ideal Candidate Should Possess
•Experience in waterline, sewer, and drainage pipe installation.
•Familiarity with using a transit level, laser level, 4' level, and torpedo level.
•Ability to perform cement work and grading tasks.
•Knowledge of proper torque application for waterline bolts.
•Experience with well point systems and operating a plate compactor.
•Physical ability to handle manual labor, including working in and under water.
•Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
•Punctual and reliable with good work ethics.
•Ability to work effectively in Florida's weather conditions.
