Energy Northwest, based in Richland, WA, is actively recruiting for an Executive Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer to join our Executive Leadership Team. The Executive Vice President and Chief Nuclear Office will ensure the continued exceptional performance of the Pacific Northwest's sole commercial nuclear reactor, Columbia Generating Station.
Energy Northwest is a Washington state public power joint operating agency and a premier provider of carbon-free electricity. Energy Northwest comprises 29 public power member utilities, serving more than 1.5 million customers, and provides its members and regional customers with safe, reliable, cost-effective, responsible power generation and innovative energy and business solutions. The agency owns and operates hydroelectric, solar, battery storage, wind and the Northwest’s only nuclear power facility. Energy Northwest also actively supports transportation electrification and new generation projects to the benefit of public power.
The EVP/CNO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, which determines the strategic direction, operating philosophy, and internal policy of the organization. Provide leadership by creating challenging expectations, improving staff effectiveness, and giving timely and effective feedback.
The EVP/CNO is primarily responsible for operation, maintenance, modernization and financial performance of the Columbia Generating Station. Responsibility for other generating assets may be assigned by the CEO. The EVP/CNO is also responsible to prepare for operation of nuclear generating assets under development.
The exceptional candidate brings a comprehensive history of leading progressively larger teams to achieve and sustain operational excellence. While demonstrated leadership performance is the primary attribute, technical expertise in the operation of commercial nuclear power plants, including a previous NRC Reactor Operator or Senior Reactor license, is a significant positive. Advanced education in either a technical or business field is highly desirable.
