Job Summary:
This role will be instrumental in overseeing the estimation process for our construction projects. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of commercial construction materials and labor costs, and experience in estimating commercial facilities. As a key player in our design-build process, the Estimator will ensure seamless integration between design, estimating, and construction execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Preconstruction Management
•Review architectural and engineering plans and Specifications to develop detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
•Evaluate project scope, materials, labor, and equipment costs to create accurate and competitive bids.
•Conduct site visits, pre bid meetings and feasibility assessments to gather essential project data.
•Obtain, analyze and subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Estimating Responsibilities
•Prepare budget estimates, bid proposals, and cost breakdowns for clients and stakeholders.
•Monitor market trends, material price fluctuations, and labor rates to ensure up-to-date cost estimates.
•Maintain and update historical cost data, estimating software, and bid documentation.
•Ensure all estimates comply with - Plans and Specifications
Collaboration & Communication
•Assist in contract review and negotiations to ensure alignment with project budgets and financial goals.
•Collaboration with project teams, architects, subcontractors, and clients.
Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in construction management, or a related field.
•5+ years of experience as an estimator in commercial construction.
•Proficiency in estimating software (such as Edge, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst, Sage Estimating, or similar).
•Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, materials, and labor costs.
•Ability to manage a multitude of contemporary tasks and deadlines and independently prioritize tasks accordingly.
•Ability to read and interpret commercial blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
•Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
•Strong negotiation and communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project, and construction management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Certification from AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering) or ASPE (American Society of Professional Estimators).
•Experience estimating large-scale commercial projects, such as office buildings, retail developments, hospitals, hotels, or industrial facilities.
•Familiarity with Design-Build, -, and Lump Sum contracts.
Work Environment:
•Office-based (choice of office, Grant or Williamsburg) with occasional site visits to commercial project locations.
•May require travel for bidding meetings, contract negotiations, or project assessments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
