Estimator
Objective:
The Estimator’s position contributes to the overall success of an Estimating Team, developing cost estimates and proposals by gathering and analyzing in-house resources, proposals, and quotes for accurate and timely submission of bids and proposals that meet the requested requirements.
Responsibilities:
•Supports the overall estimating effort by working closely with other Estimators while supporting the Senior Estimator and Company efforts.
•Performs accurate material area and volume take-offs, secures pricing for all divisions, coordinates subcontractors, evaluates resources, and prepares bids and proposals.
•Development of take-offs and models in AGTEK.
•Leadership through example, sharing knowledge, skills, and professional experience.
•Analyzes, prepares, and reviews bids and proposals for all scopes of work.
•Assist with the review of all correspondence required during the Preconstruction phase of the project, including but not limited to: Plans, Specifications, Bid Forms, RFI's, Clarifications and Addenda.
•Review plans and specifications for general compliance and standard industry practices for utility and water/wastewater treatment plant projects.
•Supports a highly organized work environment and manages multiple projects with various bid dates simultaneously.
•Reviews labor, material, and time requirements, including historical and planned production rates for crews and equipment.
•Solicits and gathers proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related bid documents.
•Assembles and coordinates RFP/ RQP submission packages.
•Reviews project scope and costs using in-house and external labor, equipment, material, and time.
•Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
•Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
•Complies and maintains an electronic directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
•Maintains cost database.
•Maintains Owner, Engineer, and Trade Contractor database.
•Bid package/ scope issuance and monitoring.
•Confer with trade contractors (Subcontractor and Vendors) on project scope, bid packages, and proposals to achieve competitive best value pricing.
•Build technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, completing in person and virtual training, and reviewing technical publications.
•Assist with post-bid and post-construction analysis to identify lessons learned, problems encountered, and successes achieved.
•Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other duties as assigned by Senior/ Chief Estimator, Executive Vice President and President.
•Attend pre-bid meetings for sign-in and to gain a clear understanding of the project, as needed.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or a related field
· Ability to acquire Professional Estimator Certification (PCEA, CCP, PCE, or similar)
•Experience in all delivery methods. Preferred - Hard Bid, Negotiated, CMAR, CMGC, and Design Build.
Required:
•At least 5 years of estimating experience
•Other software knowledge includes bid solicitation and tracking, Bluebeam, Bid 2 Win, AutoCAD, Procore, MS Suite, Project, and Foundations
•Experience and knowledge of Civil, Hardscape, Transportation, Aviation, and Vertical market segments.
•Must have full working knowledge of plans, specifications, addenda, and material take-offs
•Must be able to proficiently complete complex estimating tasks for projects in various phases of design and construction
•Extensive knowledge in performing constructability reviews and value engineering exercises
