From its 10 locations in Western and Northern Canada, Ketek is able to provide services and rental equipment to clients throughout the region’s oil and gas, mining, construction, and municipal sectors.
Position Background:
The Equipment Operator is trained and certified in the operation of vehicles and other mobile equipment/machinery. The Equipment Operator works alongside other operators and Ketek personnel to ensure the safe movement and transportation of other equipment and materials within Ketek’s yard, and client site. During times when the Equipment Operator is not required to be running equipment, the Operator is expected to assist with other field/shop operations.
Responsibilities:•Safely transport equipment and materials
•Load, unload and stage equipment
•Correctly operate all equipment including but not limited to forklift, loader and skid steer
•Perform regular inspections, safety, maintenance, and servicing checks to ensure proper functioning of equipment
•Maintain equipment so it is presentable and works properly
•Complete all required paperwork on a daily basis, including equipment inspection checklists, Task Hazard Assessments, and Daily Job Control Sheets
•Assist with the mobilization, monitoring, troubleshooting and demobilization of: well pumps, diesel pumps, and electric submersible pumps
•Maintain, repair, install, and service: generators, light towers, and heating equipment
•Take instruction from the Site Supervisor or Site Foreman to ensure projects are completed in a safe manner, on time, and on budget
•Assist with the routine maintenance and servicing of equipment in the field
•Load and unload equipment by hand
•Receive, understand and execute instructions from dispatcher, supervisors, client representatives, consultants, and other senior employees
•Clean equipment and tools
•Disassemble equipment, if needed, to thoroughly clean
•Identify faulty/damaged equipment and/or defective materials and inform supervisor of problem
•Determine the correct type of tools/equipment to be used for a specific task
•Utilize checklists, inspections, work procedures and safety guidelines to complete tasks
•Complete assigned tasks in a safe, efficient and timely manner
•Maintain an active inventory of equipment on site and convey any and all changes to the appropriate party (Project Manager, Dispatcher, Branch Manager, etc.)
•Perform routine housekeeping duties on site, including cleaning of offices, equipment, and vehicles
Qualifications and Skills:
Required
•Equipment operator training and/or certification
•Minimum of 5 years oilfield and/or construction experience
•Fluent in the English language (reading, written, spoken)
•Valid driver's license with clean driver's abstract
•Ability to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
•Devoted to following code of ethics and safety rules
•Ability to work independently or as part of a team
•Fire Extinguisher knowledge
This position is defined as Safety Sensitive: Drug, Alcohol, Back, and Audio tests are required prior to commencing employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands
•Regularly required to stand/sit, talk/hear, stoop, climb, lift, balance, kneel and use of hands/fingers to operate tools, machinery and materials
•Moderate to heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) may be required
•Use of mechanical aids: overhead crane, forklift, pallet jack, and dolly may be required
•Regular exposure to loud noises. Hearing protection is provided when needed
•Potential exposure to acetylene gas, fumes, oil, and paint residue
Work Environment
•Required to work weekends and outside of regular office hours including night shift
•Will be required to work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and heat
