Reporting to the Supervisor – Mining, the Equipment Operator - Dewatering is responsible for a wide range of tasks to support mining operations, including the installation, operation, maintenance, and relocation of dewatering systems, as well as assisting with general pit services, equipment
Location: Blackwater Mine site
Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities:
•Operate and maintain dewatering pumps, pipelines, and associated equipment.
•Lead the installation and monitoring of pit sumps, pipelines, and all dewatering infrastructure.
•Perform routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and coordinate repairs for dewatering systems.
•Monitor water levels regularly and adjust operations to maintain optimal drainage.
•Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and safety of dewatering operations.
•Oversee junior team members, train new operators, and provide on-the-job mentorship.
•Ensure all activities comply with site safety policies and environmental regulations.
•Manage dewatering laydowns, including stock control and supply ordering.
•Maintain a clean, organized work area and equipment.
•Assist with site preparation, excavation, grading, and other manual labor tasks.
•Operate heavy equipment in support of dewatering and pit service activities.
Qualifications:
•Minimum 1–3 years of hands-on dewatering experience in open pit hard rock mining.
•Skilled in the setup, operation, and relocation of diesel, electric, and submersible pumps.
•Proficient in working with layflat hoses, poly pipe, HDPE, and Victaulic couplings.
•Understanding of pit drainage design, including sumps, toe drains, and bench pumping.
•Strong troubleshooting ability with pump systems (e.g., priming issues, flow loss, cavitation).
•Experience operating excavators, dozers, or loaders in active mine conditions.
•Flexible and adaptable to dynamic site conditions and shifting priorities.
•High school diploma preferred.
•Valid driver’s license preferred (Class 5 or higher).
•Experience with HDPE fusion or poly welding is a strong asset.
•Willingness to work at a remote camp on a 2x2 rotational schedule.
•Ability to perform in all weather conditions during 12-hour shifts.
•Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
•Physically capable of lifting/moving up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.
