Outstanding career opportunity with the US/Canada division of a highly respected Global Renewable Energy Company. The Environmental Compliance Engineer will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental programs and systems to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and company requirements across company’s North American assets, while driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in environmental compliance and regulatory affairs, and experience supporting varied stakeholders, and a proven track record of successful compliance programs. Position reports to company to the Director of Environmental Compliance. Knowledge of Air Permitting Compliance in California, Michigan, and Pennsylvania a plus. - Partner with the business to achieve company objectives by leading and facilitating the development, delivery, implementation, measurement, and maintenance of company’s North American environmental compliance programs and systems, with a focus on multimedia program areas.
- Collaborate with Project Delivery and Operations teams to develop and implement plans/schedules for environmental permitting, compliance, and testing to support company’s North American operations.
- Develop, permit, and report on waste and chemical programs (primary).
- Develop, implement, and manage tank/SPCC programs (primary).
- Develop and manage waste management programs for each facility (primary).
- Conduct waste evaluations to ensure proper categorization and disposal (primary).
- Monitor compliance-related meetings, track action items, and ensure timely resolution.
- Manage and track compliance data in the company’s database.
- Conduct audits, compliance inspections, and observations, supporting timely action closeouts.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and managing pipeline compliance programs.
- Support emissions testing preparation, scheduling, and contract management.
- Coordinate and oversee landfill gas sampling for compliance monitoring.
- Support air permit development, modifications, and RNG facility permitting.
- Prepare and review waste, chemical, and tank compliance reports (primary) and air reports (support).
- Act as a liaison with environmental consultants and regulatory contacts (support).
- Monitor and review company training matrices, conducting environmental compliance or permit training as needed.
- Address unsafe or non-compliant work conditions and behaviors.
- Provide leadership and coaching to other teams within the company.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures as outlined in the latest employment policies.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining facility environmental binders.
- Promote reporting of environmental incidents and assist in identifying remedial actions, ensuring timely close-out with company management.
- Collect, distribute, and review compliance data, compiling reports (typically monthly).
- Ensure personal and workplace health and safety through adherence to safety obligations.
- Perform additional duties commensurate with the position’s level and responsibility, as required.
- Strong understanding of the business’s diversity and technical nature, with the ability to develop and implement practical, legislation-compliant systems and procedures.
- Practical application of risk management principles to control compliance risks.
- Commitment to continuous improvement of programs and personal skills/knowledge.
- Ability to lead and perform in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in recording and analyzing data using Excel and other Microsoft products.

- Must be able to travel as needed, including to Canada, up to 20 to 30% overnight travel.
- Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering or related degree, prefer master’s degree in related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, preferably with multi-site organizations in the power generation or utility industry.
- Strong understanding of current environmental legislation, standards, codes, and practices.
- Deep knowledge of waste, chemical, tank, and SPCC regulatory requirements preferred.
- Experience leading program evaluation, development, and compliance initiatives with minimal oversight.
- Experience Managing industrial hazards, SDS systems, and compliance file management. - Proven experience auditing compliance programs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and professional documents and reports.
- Willingness to undertake training and achieve qualifications to meet compliance and regulatory requirements at the company’s discretion and expense.
- Valid driver’s license required and clean driving record
