Whitecap is looking to fill Engineering Internship positions for May 2026 based in our Weyburn, SK office. These internships can vary in length and will provide you the opportunity to get hands on experience that will develop the skills for a career in Oil and Gas industry.

Interns will work directly under the mentorship of an experienced engineer and have the opportunity to be part of our dynamic high performing team in the field. You will do challenging work, solve problems, and add value. Examples of some of the duties are outlined below:
- Provide support on well optimizations which includes surface and downhole (pump efficiency reviews, economics and equipment loading evaluation)
- Design artificial lift systems (rod pumps, progressive cavity pumps and electric submersible pumps)
- Trouble shoot downhole challenges by evaluating workover economics and downhole design strategies
- Evaluate shut-in wells to determine if economically viable to re-activate or be added to the abandonment program
- Optimization tracking and data analysis
- Field time with Operations and the Service Rigs
- Analyse data and provide detailed direction based on trending and mechanical/process evaluation
- Evaluate various Waterfloods effectiveness and optimization opportunities
- Create area maps to provide alignment and communications networks
- Review operating expense trends looking for opportunities for reduction
- Review production variances to observe trends and provide feedback to enhance production
- Steam line processes to maximize the Opti Teams time
- Review chemical programs and understand the requirements/economics/optimization possibilities
- Enrolled in 3rd year of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and scheduled to return to school following the internship
- Previous experience in the oil and gas industry would be an asset
- Excellent computer skills with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel
- Experience with business intelligence software (Tableau, Power BI, Spotfire) and/or data analysis tools (Python, R) would be an asset
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment is required
- Enthusiastic individual with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals
