We are seeking an Engineer to join our dynamic team at Mike Hooks LLC. This position will play a vital role in the design and execution of various dredging and construction projects. Job Description
The Engineer assumes the responsibilities of the Assistant Chief Engineer in his/her absence. The Engineer is responsible for the supervision of overall safety, operation, maintenance, and repair of all engines, mechanical, and
electrical systems including active participation in repair and maintenance activities.
Essential Job Functions
•Inventory, requisition, and procure spare parts, fuel, lubrication oils, and other materials that are required for efficient and safe operations of the engine room
•Communicate with the Port Engineer concerning vessel repairs and maintenance
•Complete Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and/or Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA)
•Delegate engine room personnel to perform maintenance tasks and repairs to pumps, motors, diesel engines, and other equipment on the dredge and attendant plant
•Supervise repairs to ensure that they are performed to specified standards
•Keep accurate records in order to create engine room logs and inventories
•Track fuel, oil, and water consumption
•Define and schedule maintenance priorities
•Abide by company and worksite safety policies to achieve a “Safety First” workplace
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises engine room personnel during a 12‐hour shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning,
directing work and appraising performance, disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements
•5+ years as an Engineer or equivalent experience
•Ability to work 84‐hour work week
•Ability to live aboard vessel for full rotation
•Ability to understand hand signals and verbal commands in English
•Applicant must provide their own hand tools
Required Certifications or Licenses
•TWIC ‐ Transportation Worker Identification Credential
Physical Requirements
•Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend or stand for long periods of time, and climb stairs & ladders
•Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies, and parts up to 50 lbs., unassisted
