In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Instrumentation, Electrical and Computer Projects Engineering Section is currently hiring for an Engineer/Engineering Trainee.

Members of the Instrumentation, Electrical and Computer Projects Section are responsible for performing the role of Owner’s Engineering Lead in accordance with BP-PROG-10.01, Configuration Management. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, leading and supporting project execution through the complete lifecycle in accordance with Engineering Change Control process.

This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

Leadership – Provide the roadmap for project success and influence your team to maximize efforts to achieve project success.
Communication - Ensure the team has a clear understanding ‘why’ the effort is important
Oversight – Have a visible presence in the field, reinforce positive behaviours, and identify individual and team performance gaps
Foster a team culture of ownership and accountability to improve both team and individual continuous improvement.


Specific Responsibilities:

The ICE Projects Owners Engineering Lead manages engineering deliverables and leads a project teams with the following specific responsibilities:

+ Direct report to the Section Manager, Instrumentation, Electrical and Computer Projects + Provide technical guidance of design work performed by both Bruce Power engineers and external suppliers. + Prepare, review, verify and accept engineering technical outputs and deliverables such as but not limited to:

- Design Plans

- Design Requirements

- Technical Specification

- Engineering Change Packages (DCP, DCN, FMTS, FCN)

- Engineering Design Quotes (Cost and schedules

+ Perform other Owner’s Engineering Lead activities supporting engineering outputs, deliverables, projects and activities such as but not limited to:

- PreJob Briefs

- Post Job Reviews

- Observations

Mange design engineering activities and support execution of currently assigned capital projects such as but not limited to:

+ 35920 : BA : Hydro One Switchyard Transfer of Control + 36527 : BA : Bruce A Standby Generators Controls Upgrades + 39749 : BA : SG2-4 Controls Upgrade + 39891 : BB : Generator Monitoring System (AMOT-0315-03) + 70284 : BA : Generator Monitoring System Replacement + 70107 : BA : GIS Switchyard HONI 500kV Upgrade + 39918 : BA : Qualified Power Supply SDG Control System Upgrade + 70564 : BB : Replace EPS Seismic Rectifiers

Monitor, complete and communicate project performance metrics and performance review such as but not limited to:

+ Schedule adherence + Commitment adherence + Engineering Change closeouts + Engineering Request completion + Section/Crew Roll Up Meetings

Manage, organize, and prioritize project team resources based on project priorities.
Ensure that all qualifications remain current and up to date.
Engagement and collaboration with engineering suppliers who are supporting design engineering work.
Manage the project finances and budgets.
Provide coaching & feedback to project teams and individuals to drive performance improvement.


Knowledge and Skills:

General knowledge and understanding of nuclear power plant design and operation with a particular focus on electrical systems and infrastructure.
Learning agility and ability to close any knowledge gaps to nuclear plant design and operations including supporting codes and standards.
Technical working knowledge and experience related to one or more of the following topics:

+ Power generators, standby diesel generators, excitation system, generator protections + Protection and Control (motor, buses, switchgear, transformers) + Power Conversion (Inverters, converters, rectifiers, batteries) + Power distribution (13.8kV, 4.16kV, 600V) switchgear, breakers, transformers, MCCs, cables, etc. + High voltage generation/transmission (230kV and 500kV) high voltage power transmission

Leadership Skills such as but not limited to:

+ Coaching and feedback to colleagues and management + Ownership and accountability of project performance + Pursuit of continuous improvement and excellence. + Application of critical thinking + Establish high standards of excellence and inspire people to stretch beyond their limits. + Exercise a strong technical conscience.

Organization skills to support multiple ongoing capital projects
Some project management knowledge with respect to cost and schedule management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Skills to drive continuous improvement both for oneself and project team performance


Education and Experience:


Engineer (Occupation Code 670325)

Completion of a 4-year University Engineering degree. A preferred background in Electrical, I&C, Chemical or Computer Engineering or other relevant discipline.
An Ontario Professional Engineering designation is required (P.Eng.).
A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years’ experience is considered necessary.
Specific nuclear Electrical experience is a strong preference.


Engineering Trainee (Occupation Code 670207)

Completion of a 4-year University Engineering degree. Mechanical Engineering is an asset.
Working towards a valid Professional Engineers of Ontario certification.
A period of over 2 years and up to and including 4 years experience is considered necessary.
Specific nuclear Electrical experience is a strong preference.
