Dominion Energy is adding an Energy Market Consultant to its Integrated Strategic Planning (ISP) team. The ISP team focuses on energy market research and analysis with regards to the economics, regulations and policy formulations specific to energy. This position is responsible for conducting long-term energy market and economic analyses as part of the Company's Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), Clean Energy Filing, and other regulatory cases. This work is critical to the Company’s long- term planning and strategic decision making. The successful candidate will provide valuable analysis used to determine how to meet these commitments.
Develops and implements project timelines for Company Regulatory filings with the VA and NC Utility Commissions. Coordinates Discovery and the development of Company testimony for the ISP team. Assists in completing the modeling, financial and strategic analysis related to the Company's capacity resource plan including risk assessment analyses, optimization analysis, rate analysis, and financial implications. Focuses on process improvements across the ISP team.
Ensures timely filing of regulatory cases. Oversees, develops, and prepares regulatory filings, associated tariffs, work papers, documentation, analyses, discovery responses, and testimony. Oversees, develops, and prepares technical analysis. Monitors and analyzes regulatory changes. Provides support to outside consultants, and internal and external counsel. Supports and defends company positions in formal proceedings, by preparing expert written and oral testimony. Maintains effective working relationship with commission staff and regulatory stakeholders. Works as part of a team to effectively communicate expert analysis in regulatory cases.
8+ years of experience with extensive knowledge of power generation markets, production cost forecasting, capacity resource planning, industry operating terms, generation equipment, renewable generation, battery storage, utility rates, risk assessment, project management, capacity markets or commodity markets.
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelors
Note: A Master's degree will count as one year of experience. A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year of experience.
