EMC Insights is seeking a Clean Energy Engineer I or II
to join our rapidly growing team. You will be a key member of our consulting team supporting utility-sponsored custom energy efficiency programs in New Jersey. These programs are technically challenging, require critical thinking, and will expose you to various energy consumption and efficiency calculations. The Clean Energy Engineer will be a key technical and field resource, assessing the impact of energy efficiency programs, conducting site visits at commercial and industrial (C&I) facilities, and working with customers to develop energy savings estimates for large and complex energy efficiency projects.
We are seeking a technically skilled and self-motivated individual with at least 2 years of experience who shares our passion for energy efficiency. As a Clean Energy Engineer, you will use your energy engineering background to work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to the success of energy efficiency projects, conduct site visits, and assist in providing energy management services to our utility clients' customers. This position will require some travel around New Jersey.

- Must be located in New Jersey, US - northern to central areas preferred.
- This is a remote (work-from-home) position with travel to customer sites in New Jersey.
- Communicate effectively (both virtually and in person) with project coordinators, contractors, customers, and the client to help support participation in utility-sponsored custom energy efficiency programs
- Establish and maintain a professional customer rapport, including identifying and anticipating customer needs and proposing solutions
- Conduct inspections to verify installation and operation of baseline and replacement energy-efficient equipment
- Provide technical and non-technical support to utility customers and contractors
- Produce high-quality engineering deliverables (spreadsheets, calculators, reports) with some support and coordination from peers or senior engineers
- Support the development of new energy efficiency measures for existing / new energy efficiency programs while demonstrating technical understanding
- Promptly and accurately address contractor and customer concerns to assure problem resolution and promote long-term productive relationships
- Understand the organization and decision-making process to work with stakeholders in determining project eligibility, schedule, and potential energy savings
- Perform and review energy savings calculations for evaluating energy savings and environmental impact
- Efficiently manage multiple projects, provide timely updates, and ensure customers and contractors are promptly updated with program information
- Maintain quality control of all deliverable products, demonstrating objectivity and clarity while maintaining project schedules
- Other duties as assigned
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- 2-4 years of energy efficiency or clean energy program implementation or evaluation experience, including internships
- Previous experience with the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) program
- C&I HVAC, building optimization, and/or energy management experience
- Previous project management experience
- Experience conducting ASHRAE Level 1 and/or Level II audits
- Certifications such CMVP, CEM, PE, and related
