IHI Power Services Corp. has a career opportunity for an Electrical Technician at our Sunnyside coal mine location in UT.
Job Summary
The Electrical Technician is responsible for the routine preventative and corrective maintenance and repair of all electrical equipment, including motors, breakers, switchgear, lighting, and other electrical-powered equipment in the facility. The Electrical Technician performs work of high skill in the inspection, repair, testing, calibration, installation, and removal of all electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems.
Job Functions•Perform planned and unplanned maintenance tasks on electrical systems in the facility.
•Exhibit knowledge of high voltage switchgear, motors, MSHA regulations, instrumentation, switches, controls and other electrical components in an industrial setting.
•Monitor facility electrical process, instrumentation, and control equipment for proper operation.
•Troubleshoot problems associated with electrical and instrumentation control systems components.
•Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility electrical equipment to include variable frequency drives, motors, starters, etc.
•Maintain/troubleshoot/program the GE Series 6 Programmable Logic Control system.
•Maintain preventative maintenance records for electrical equipment.
•Maintain inventory control of electrical and instrumentation spare parts.
•Assist with scheduling and coordinating outside contractor work on instrumentation and electrical equipment.
•Perform troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on process controls equipment that includes electro pneumatic positioners, control valves and transmitters.
•Maintain and troubleshoot faults with the Fisher Provox Digital Control System.
•Maintain/troubleshoot/audit boiler continuous emissions monitoring equipment.
•Maintain preventative maintenance records for instrumentation and control equipment.
•Demonstrate proficiency with common test instruments to include Fluke, Megger, Signal Generator, Amprobe, etc.
•Demonstrate proficiency in reading electrical schematics and diagrams.
•Participate in required company safety training.
•Maintaining and troubleshooting air conditioning equipment.
•Installing new electrical equipment and systems for plant modifications and improvements.
Education and Experience
– An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
•1+ years of industrial electrician experience
•Current MSHA Surface Certification
•Reading electrical drawings a plus
•Industrial or Power plant experience a plus
•Graduated from an accredited Electrical Technician Program or two years of work experience as a technician in a related industry.
•Experience in working with voltages up to 4160 volts highly desirable.

•Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
•Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and can work without direct supervision.
•Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
•Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
•Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
•Basic data entry/computer skills
•Work as a team. Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all the business challenges.
Work Environment
– Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
•Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high voltage protective equipment and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties.
•Work with hazardous materials may be required.
•Requires working extended working hours, varied shifts or 12-hour shifts with weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions. On call status (day and night) may be required.
•Includes working indoors and outdoors.
•Includes working with high temperature liquid and high voltage equipment.
