Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to support the design, permitting, and implementation of electric vehicle charging station installations. This role will be responsible for developing electrical designs, reviewing construction plans, coordinating with utilities, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
•Design electrical systems for Level 2 and DC fast charging (Level 3) EV charger installations.
•Produce and review single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, panel schedules, load calculations, and grounding plans.
•Perform site assessments to evaluate existing electrical infrastructure and recommend upgrade paths.
•Coordinate with utilities to determine service availability, transformer sizing, and metering requirements.
•Work with permitting agencies to obtain electrical permits and respond to plan review comments.
•Support project managers and field crews with technical guidance during installation and commissioning phases.
•Conduct arc flash studies, short circuit analyses, and load flow studies as needed.
•Ensure all designs meet NEC, IEEE, UL, ADA, and local AHJ requirements.
•Participate in vendor selection and evaluation of EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment).
•Assist with commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting EV charger systems post-installation.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited institution.
•Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in electrical design or engineering, ideally within the EV charging, renewable energy, or construction industries.
•Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
•Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical permitting process.
•Familiarity with EVSE technology and utility interconnection processes.
•EIT certification required; PE license preferred or in progress.
•Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
•Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Experience:
•Experience working with utility companies and AHJs.
•Background in solar, energy storage, or microgrid systems is a plus.
•Prior field commissioning or hands-on electrical troubleshooting experience.
