Responsible for all projects assigned by engineering from planning to completion. Work closely with engineering in the design and implementation of new machine controls, vision, robotics, and automation applications. Assist manufacturing in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives related to robotics, vision, automation and machine control. Work closely with maintenance in the troubleshooting and resolution of machine controls, robotics, vision, and automation equipment issues. Troubleshoots all electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and effectively. Will be requested to review purchases within area of expertise. Responsible for the repair of electronic equipment which may involve instructing maintenance electricians, contact with vendors, electronic bench work, or hands-on repair of equipment on the production floor. Designs and consults on electrical and electronic circuits on new equipment and any revision to current equipment.
This position will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor.
Travel in 3 to 5 day increments for training is required.
A person in this position shall possess a minimum of a High School Degree or equivalent (G.E.D, etc.) An associate degree in electrical engineering technology is highly preferred. Must have at least 3-5 years practical experience in a manufacturing plant. Individual must have a sound background in TC principles, programming fundamentals, and industrial electronic controls. Individuals should be knowledgeable of TS16949.
Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft office suite applications. Having experience in the use of application software including AutoCAD, Rockwell Software programming suite, S7 (or TIA portal), and/or servo motion control fundamentals is preferred. Specific knowledge and training in Allen-Bradley/Siemens PLC’s, Allen-Bradley Panel views, and/or motion control (Kinetix, TS-Servo) drive applications is a plus. Preference given for experience in the use of Fanuc industrial robots and vision application integration in a manufacturing environment. Must have proven problem-solving capabilities within a hands-on environment.

1. Work within engineering and various cross-functional teams in the design and implementation of automation for new product launches.
2. Assist in the troubleshooting and resolution of manufacturing problems related to automation, machine control, vision systems, robotics, and power quality issues.
3. Continuous improvement leader that optimizes the function of automation and machine control to improve overall plant efficiencies.
4. Create, update, document and maintain all electrical documentation including wiring diagrams, PLC, HMI, motion, robotic, and vision programs to facilitate building or troubleshooting equipment.
5. Work with engineering and purchasing to requisition electrical hardware/software specified on projects.
6. Help to maintain standard hardware specifications and application.
7. Build and debug electrical control panels for manufacturing engineering related projects.
8. Monitor and assure compliance to all applicable machine safety requirements and agencies related to job function.
9. Champion compliance with all company policies and safety rules.
10. Instruct, collaborate with and assist maintenance electricians on electronic repair work
11. Plans and orders material through direct contact with vendors to ensure that items ordered arrive on time with the correct materials. Receive and inspect items ordered for quality, quantity, and compliance with specifications.
12. Review monthly utilities usage report from readings taken from plant locations and make recommendations for savings.
13. Oversee the progress of electrical engineering projects and assist co-workers with plans, designs, drawings, and procedures for accuracy and compliance with objectives.
14. Recommend new devices, machines, or improved methods or procedures.
15. Repair electrical equipment in various departments. Analyze programs and recommends or initiates corrective action.
16. Perform bench repair of defective electronic equipment including calibration and set up adjustments.
17. Must be able to perform overtime as required.
18. Perform preventative maintenance checks on electrical equipment
19. Maintain permanent file of electronic manuals received with new equipment
20. Knowledgeable on quality and environmental policies along with the location to access and review them.
21. Requisition replacement parts for stock and emergency repair of electronic equipment.
23. Active in LEAN initiatives, 5S, and addresses safety issues as they arise.
24. Maintains work area and equipment in a neat, clean, orderly condition, properly storing dunnage, supplies, materials, equipment, etc. (This includes area around equipment on the production floor as well as Maintenance Department).
25. Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner reporting all problems, irregularities or suggested corrective actions immediately to supervision.
26. Performs other miscellaneous duties as required or directed.

Accidents involving injuries, property damage, and spills must be reported immediately. Near misses (close calls) are critical for loss control and must be reported immediately. Lean Enterprise and 5S standards must be maintained in all assigned areas.
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
