Scovan is seeking an Electrical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) / Junior Electrical Engineer
to join our team! Electrical design is at the core of this role. You will support the design and execution of power distribution, controls, and equipment systems for energy projects, while learning directly from experienced engineers.
As part of our integrated team, you will contribute to electrical drawings, calculations, and technical documents, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle. This role offers an exciting opportunity to build strong design skills, grow technically, and directly impact the Scovan customer experience.
- Support project managers and senior engineers in executing electrical design and engineering tasks on innovative energy projects.
- Contribute to the development of electrical designs, including layouts, schematics, and specifications for low- and medium-voltage systems, controls, and equipment.
- Assist with heat trace design, including system layouts, load calculations, and coordination with mechanical and process engineering teams.
- Prepare and support engineering deliverables such as drawings, studies, and technical reports.
- Learn to apply Scovan’s Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) in daily work.
- Participate in design reviews and problem-solving discussions, helping identify operational challenges and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with clients and colleagues to understand project scope and what success looks like.
- Gain hands-on experience in equipment sizing, integration, and vendor coordination under supervision.
- Communicate effectively with project teams, vendors, and clients in a professional manner.
- Assist in the development of fugitive emissions studies and hazardous area class determination.
- Develop control system design deliverables including I/O list and schematics, hardware layout and network architecture.
- Take initiative to learn industry software and tools to strengthen your electrical design capabilities.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with APEGA.
- 1–3 years of relevant work experience (co-op, internship, or early career).
- Exposure to electrical design principles such as power distribution, controls, heat trace, and equipment sizing (academic or work-based).
- Interest in learning design software such as SKM, ETAP, or AutoCAD (experience is an asset).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel skills are an asset).
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive learner with a willingness to ask questions, take feedback, and grow.
