Blue Ridge Power (BRP) is seeking a Commissioning Specialist to join our Commissioning team! The Commissioning Specialist supports the Commissioning Superintendent in managing the project commissioning activities. This position serves as a lead role for the respective commissioning discipline and is responsible for project commissioning practices and schedule compliance. Under direct supervision, this position reports functionally to the Commissioning Manager and administratively to the assigned Commissioning Superintendent on site. This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position.

This position is 70-80% travel and offers per diem while traveling and working on our project sites. Site states include, but are not limited to North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, Maryland, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

What You'll Do:

•

Good Knowledge of all project plans, specifications, and drawings.

•

Develop and maintain an overall project commissioning plan, including deliverables and due dates to comply with contract requirements.

•

Work individually and within a team to perform required inspections on utility PV systems.

•

Lead the interface between the project site and the Commissioning team on site.

•

Participate in the pre-commissioning meetings and all commissioning activities.

•

Prepare and document commissioning meeting minutes and upload them to construction management software (CMS).

•

Proactively review the site-specific commissioning tracker before the commencement of commissioning activities to ensure all pre-energization activities are covered.

•

Lead site walks and manages the Job Book Table of Contents (TOC) for project-specific requirements and reports requested client-requested changes to the Commissioning Manager.

•

Coordinate craft and equipment support for commissioning activities.

•

Participate in safety programs and discussions before energization.

•

Verify all applicable equipment is LOTO'd before energization and implement a power control program to ensure safety is maintained across project execution.

•

Participate in assigned project design documents and drawing reviews.

•

Review and track test report submittals and ensure all required submittals are closed before energization.

•

Review the subcontract agreements and commissioning plans to get a good understanding of the scope of the subcontractors.

•

Conduct audits of project commissioning documentation for accuracy and completeness.

•

Assist the team in training project personnel to perform field verification during the commissioning process.

•

Ensure that commissioning and documentation are completed per contract requirements.

•

Communicate and implement Blue Ridge Power's Commissioning Procedures for all personnel under Blue Ridge Power's authority on the project site.

•

Constantly solves problems and resolves issues through face-to-face and personal communication.

•

Work with Commissioning Lead or Commissioning Manager to develop project lessons learned items at project completion.

•

Assist in preparing commissioning reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.

•

Maintain technical knowledge by keeping current on applicable processes, practices, and best methods.

•

Perform other duties as requested.

Must Haves:

•

2-3+ years of commissioning experience in the utility-scale solar industry.

•

A clear understanding of OSHA safe workplace practices and procedures.

•

Advanced Racking and Tracker commissioning, operation, troubleshooting, manufacturer training, and/or certification.

•

Advanced Inverter commissioning, operation, communications, troubleshooting, manufacturer training, and/or certification.

•

Advanced DAS systems, communication systems, operations, programming, manufacturer training, and/or certification.

•

Good knowledge of MV Transformers and other Renewable Energy Balance of System (BOS) Advanced Construction, structural, and electrical single-line and three-line drawings, markups, redlines, and RFIs.

•

Good knowledge of Utility and Interconnection (Substation and POI) Equipment.

•

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software programs.

Nice to Haves:

•

Transmission scale solar experience preferred.

•

Experience working with solar tracker systems.

•

Subcontractor and vendor management.

Education and Certifications:

•

Associate degree in electrical engineering or related field of study required.

•

Must possess and maintain a current valid driver's license required.

•

NABCEP Certification or equivalent education is required.

•

OSHA 30 or 100 is required.

•

An electrical license and/or equivalent education are required.

•

High Voltage Certification preferred.

•

Low Voltage Certification preferred.

•

NABCEP PV Associate Certification preferred.

•

NFPA 70e preferred.

•

OSHA 30 preferred.

Working Environment and Physical Demand:

•

70-80% travel to assigned project(s); field and on-site office-based work.

•

Must have the ability to travel and be flexible when traveling to multiple states.

•

Must possess reliable transportation.

•

Must be able to comply with all company safety standards and procedures, including OSHA requirements.

•

Must follow organization policies and procedures.

•

Individuals in this position work in an outdoor environment and must be able to tolerate all climates.

•

Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk short to long distances for 8-10 hours daily.

•

Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
